So we lost to Brighton, not unexpected in my book at the moment. Gus Poyet has had 3 years in charge of Brighton and has built a team in his own style and they are now reaping the rewards.

We are effectively in the first season of our revamp as last year was all about survival. So far, we have some considerably better players in BUT, you can't replace a whole team in one go and until the arrival of Danns, we were stilling missing that spark in midfield, we probably need one more in fairness...

On top of this, we have now signed 3-4-5 (can't remember) youngsters for the ALL NEW accademy and are now blooding some of our youngsters in Wilson, Bryan and Reid.

Despite our good start, we were never going to win the division this year, it is all about building something but whilst you still have to rely on some elements that got us into the **** last year, it wasn't ever going to be an easy ride.

If any of you have actually seen the last few games, we have been far more solid and have actually kept and PASSED the ball which signifies a great deal of work on the training field. Last night, we lost because we were caught cold and also conceded a real comedy goal - other than that, there was not a lot between the sides which might sound like a strange thing to say but the important bit is that WE DID NOT CAPiTULATE and should really have scored at least one.

We are not going to go down this year, no danger whatsoever - I still go with my estimate of around 60 points so FFS, some of you give it a rest and

GET BEHIND THE MANAGER AND THE TEAM...!!!!

Why is it expected that we lose to Brighton? Apart from us being $hit.
My expectations with the players we have seem to be a great deal higher than yours by the sound of it Prem..

I would only expect to have more difficult games with the teams that have come down from the Prem and maybe the odd team that has had millions ploughed into them.
Yes Gus Poyet has been in charge for 3 years, but the biggest point made is that he's a decent manager and has a very good knowledge of how the beautiful game should be played. (He also played at the highest level in England)

60 points????? where the hell are they coming from???

Test will be over the next few games now that he's filled in a few gaps that were missing. Wolves will be interesting, lose to them and I think Del will be in deep trouble.

I will get behind the team cus that's what I do....as for Del, I'm struggling!

    Well said Prem!

I heard the game on the radio and it seemed very balanced to me and think really we deserved a draw.

Fed up with reading miserable ****s moaning instead of realising we are actually heading in the right direction.

Now lets get behind the team, the manager, and the club.

Will put my Tourette's friend <ok>

Prem once again, another well put positive post. You did forget to write we are not even HALF way through this season.
Football form changes, and like when we beat Palarse and Caardiff some where saying we are the dark horses this year. So it shows just 2 wins away from swaying the negatives.
    Well put Prem <applause>

'WE DID NOT CAPiTULATE' - They were 2 up, sat back and took the piss.

'Last night, we lost because we were caught cold and also conceded a real comedy goal -
which signifies a great deal of work on the training field'

Couldn't have put it better other than why change a winning side.

Sorry, forgot Del loves the Hokey Cokey.

Redprint and Onefor have been against us appointing Del from day one mate and stuck to it.

But you my friend changes his mind like the weather. After 2 good wins you said excellent management. Now **** management, if we beaten Brighton you would be back in the we are the dark horse of this league as we would of been unbeaten in 3 games.

Your like Andy and Lou of Little Britain I will let you work out which character <laugh>

I am not ready to get rid of Del but equally he doesn't have forever to turn it around.
I have been saying for a long time now that we need to sort out our defence and in particular find a replacement for Carey who has IMO lost his legs.
The Brighton game may have had some positives - but we still LOST - apparently to set pieces too - which just underlines my point about defence and organisation/leadership (lack of) on the pitch.
We have scored a lot of goals so far this season - not often a City fan can say that, but our woeful defensive record is why we are propping up the table.
We go into the Wolves game already 1-0 down in my book. We KNOW they will score, so we need to make sure we get at least 2 of our own.

    ROD,
To be fair, I wasn't against McInnes being appointed.
I didn't know enough about him to give an opinion although like every City fan hoped we'd struck gold.
It's his management here at City that I rail against.

Mcinnes makes 'basic' errors and I fear the worst.

To put McInnes on a pedestal like some do on here is ridiculous. He makes errors constantly with it being team selection to Tactics. Unlike millen he is still liked, I still like him and really want him to do well but again and again we have seen the same **** and again and again we get the same excuse. People need to wake up and see his is a average manager but I still believe he can become a success here. Its hard to know when and how. Since he's took over we have not got any better. He really needs to pull his act together and fast other wise we will undo all the hard work Johnson did and be back at square 1 playing him and Yeovil on a weekend

    Here here bud..
The only reason I didn't want him was because I thought it was a massive gamble for the position we were at the time (in the $hit after Keef)
I was shocked that he managed (just) to keep us up last season and for that reason I was happy to give him the summer, pre-season to sort things out and see if we competed in the first Qtr of the season.
    You know the rest!!

Seems like a lot of people are hammering our manager for not "sorting out the defence" however in Cunningham and Heaton, we have great players in place for years to come but granted, this still needs a lot of work.

HOWEVER, before we get too busy on this subject, lets just remind ourselves of our goalscoring prowess over the last 6 years

2006/07 - top scorer Phil Jevons on 11 (total goals scored 63, conceded 39)
2007/08 - top scorer Darren Byfield on 8 (total goals scored 54, conceded 53)
2008/09 - top scorer Nicky Maynard on 11 (total goals scored 54, conceded 54)
2009/10 - top scorer Nicky Maynard on 20 (total goals scored 56, conceded 65)
2010/11 - top scorer Brett Pitman on 13 (total goals scored 62, conceded 65)
2011/12 - top scorer Nicky Maynard on 8 (total goals scored 44, conceded 68)

So for the last 6 seasons, we have conceded more goals EVERY YEAR it really fell apart in GJ's final year and didn't get any better under Millen - at the same time, we were scoring on average, just over a goal a game and our top scorer, one season aside, was frankly pathetic

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that you ain't going to win anything with that sort of goal scoring record so to my mind, it was JUST AS IMPORTANT to get some good quality goal scorers in and in Sam Baldock and Steve Davis who are a cut above anything we have had here for nearly a decade, with Ryan and Steady to back them up, we certainly have these.

So, score more goals, gives us a better chance whilst gradually improving the defence. I think that in Bates and Cunningham, we now have 2 defenders with quality and composure on the ball and add Joe Bryan to that who I expect to push up field to join Danns in midfield when Greg comes back, gradually, you have the makings of a considerably better side than the last 3/4 years and we are definitely going the right way.

No doubt, we need to start winning games but I think that we will settle soon and injuries aside, we WILL improve so...

Last season I was always 101% or more certain we would stay up, and results panned out how we needed and we survived although by few less points than I anticipated
This season however the fixtures are seemingly more higgledy piggedely than last...either I cant concentrate on the job in hand( working out potential points on who plays who and when or its due to to the higgledy piggedely effect What I am saying is I am behind the manager, but survival...how sure am I, lets say "less than 101%"

To be up with the top 6 its not just goals its points...
scoring 69 conceeding 44 should be the minimum/ max targets and points should reflect this

Home points 23 games should be a minimum of 46 and away points minmum of 28 these targets are minimum, ave pts per game should be greater than 1.5

we are currently on half the points we should be on, goals are on track for, but double the amount against

To anyone who thought we played well at Brighton I offer the following comment from a Wolves fan.

'i watched bristol city at brighton last night they are useless, brighton dropped both strikers mckail smith and barnes and played midfielders upfront and still won with ease. if we dont beat this lot im really going to be pissed off'.

Let's all hope he's really pissed off come 5pm Saturday.
