Come on lads why the glum faces? Why paint it black? Frankly I think we're missing a trick here. We've got a great squad filled with quality youngsters and season pros. This is the season for Connolly / Hogan / Faurlin / Buz to step up and shine for us whilst Taratatatatabat skins JT and Hulse finds his scoring boots. The Mackeral will be back from injury pulling defences left and right creating space for Adel. Kenny will be a rock in defence and Gorkss / Derry / Hill and yes even Fitz will soldier on through thick and thin. The lad Troy will get a crack at it and hopefully with PVM and Rowly on the bench we can cover the midfield ok. The Ram is back and whilst I don't think he will be a regular no-one can doubt his commitment. Routs will sign once he realises his options are limited elsewhere. NW will add to the squad with players that no-one has speculated upon just like last season. Oh yes and we also have Tommy Smith a quality proven pro who I rate highly. Why the urgent desire to sign another 57 players? Get a grip and lets gear up for a cracker. My first game hopefully at the Toffee's - never been to Goodison but will be a great night out in Liverpool and a chance to look up an old flame and a plate of scouse Up the R's!
Yes, admirable sentiment WBA2, and one to which we may all revert come start of the season. But realistically, I can't feel content at the moment knowing that idiot Flavio is calling the shots...
WBAQPR, you are barking mad. Nothing gets my blood up more than hearing nonsense spouted. No offence.
well said. Everyone seems to forget hat last year, although lackpool got relegated (they still get 4 years parachute money) that they didn't overspend and got some good results. IF they hadn't had to play man U at the end of the season they may well hae stayed up. Some of our players will want to prove they are premiership class, and with captain NW leading the good ship QPR we are gonna be on an eventful journey
You call him mad and he's talking nonsense. And then say no offfense! WBA2, You'd have to agree this is some of the worst PR since Attilla.
Fair play WBA but Im not as confident as you to be honest. We are IMHO 5-6 players off having a squad capable of keeping us up. 2 defenders, 2 midfielders and 2 forwards!
Ah hem... not sure what WBA will make of the name change, but we won that final twins - and it weren't on penalties!!
In the main I'm with Swords on this one. Without Taarabt and/or Kenny, the team were hardly convincing against basic Championship sides. So, what chance against the top 19 - especially once the bubble's burst? However, the way things are going, no harm in adopting WBA's 'glass half full' attitude. Can't deny the fact it might be our saving grace! 'We're off to see the Wizard...'!
Reality can never be distorted no matter how much spin and positive waffle are attached. For example, Steve Kean was on a 10 game win less run with Blackburn going towards the last hurdle and started coming out with the amount of "positive results" (aka draws) they had in that period to make it sound like it wasn't that bad. But it was. Terrible. 4 points from 10 games. Not too dissimilar to the dressing up of defeat after defeat by a certain Ray Wilkins about 15 years ago. My point is, admirable and all that WBAQPR is for trying to cheer up the easily pleased, the truth is he's talking twaddle.
I was happily reading along and getting into a positive frame of mind until I came across 'Hulse finds his scoring boots' at which point it became clear WBA haas been at the cooking sherry a little early today. Agreed Kenny, Faurlin and possibly Tommy Smith can do a job at the top level. The rest is pure wishful thinking.
It can just as reasonably be said that reality can never be distorted no matter how much spin and NEGATIVE waffle are attached. We seem to specialise on this board in dismissing most of our players as little better than pub journeymen, and damning with faint praise the few we grudgingly feel are "OK". WBA2QPR3 may- all right, did, over egg it a bit, but the very strong principle I am with him 100%. If you slam people all the time don't be surprised if they don't perform at their best. We don't do this with our children so why with the club we love? The players can read, and negativity penetrates deeply. That's not to say that the squad doesn't need strengthening; of course it does, it has been discussed ad nauseum here and elsewhere. The examples you gave were in the past. We haven't even kicked a ball yet and we're going straight back down apparently! Be careful what you wish for......
We don't do this with our children because they're, well, children. Our highly paid professional footballers however would not only be relegated but be absolutely slaughtered in the Top Flight unless at least half a dozen quality signings are made. You may be happy to live in cloud cuckoo land Twins and best of luck up there. But you'll probably be quite lonely. Respect nonetheless. I enjoy most of your posts brother.
WBA i wish i could share your optimism, i really do. Some of the players you mentioned (Faurlin, Buz, Taarabt, Kenny) will have good seasons, but our first 11 is way below standard at the moment, its no good 4 players playing well while the rest simply aren't up to scratch.
I reckon we need 5/6, whether they be purchased or long term loans, quick summary of ability to step up, in my eyes; Able to step up Faurlin, Smith, Kenny, Tarbs (if he stays), Cerny, Routledge (if he stays) - definitely Gorkss, Orr, Mackie, Derry, Ramage - most likely Connolly, Ephraim, Derry, Buz, Hall, Hulse, Helguson - border line Rowly, PVM, Hill - Doubtful We need at least one PROVEN Premiership striker, 2 x versatile defenders, 2 x midfielder, attacking midfielder. Sorry WBA, it's not negativity, we need a proper Premiership squad.
Jeez you lot are Negative-Central. My point is..................sometimes you overlook what we currently have. Yes its not the best situation however its hardly 'Derby' all over again at least not in my book. You seem to miss the point that all players spout off about achieving at the highest levels of the game. Well here's their chance. Hogan - Up your game son. Derry - Prove me right and marshall that midfield. Adel - Show Man U what they're missing Buz - We know you can do it so lets see it Mackie - Keep on doing what you already do Smith - Ditto Etc Etc Etc This is where our manager is miles ahead of the likes of Kean, he will draw out the best ability they have. Now its a fair point as to whether they have enough ability to keep us up but to come on here most days makes me wonder why we ever bothered winning promotion??? If we didn't sign another player this season you'll still find me at most of the Northern outposts backing the team & the manager and sampling a Premier League Pie. Not said that in many a year. Don't forget this is all about the journey. We've not set off yet and many are already forgetting where we've been for the past 15 years...........so yes I back Hulse & Helgusson to prove the doubters wrong. What other choice do I have? Up the R's!
BTW Aaargghh - I've gone tea total mate, orders from the wife. I know you lot think I lost the plot ages ago by backing Alberti to be the next big Rangers name but trust me on this one....HULSE to hit the ground running.
