Life is a rollercoaster, or so they say. It is certainly the case in the life of a QPR supporter! After the highs of watching the best Rangers team in a generation win the Championship, we had to endure months of speculation and uncertainty over the FA charges. I'm sure we all had our lives shortened considerably in that time with the amount of worry we all suffered. But the eventual high was a moment we will remember for the rest of our lives. But yet again our highs are quickly followed by the inevitable lows, but let's take a breath for a minute and look at the situation. Firstly it is open knowledge, straight from Ecclestones mouth that he neither wanted to get involved with Rangers in the first place, nor does he have much interest in it's future. He also stated a couple of months back that there were talks ongoing into the sale of the club, and that the club would always be up for sale at the right price. He is a successful businessman after all. This has now led him to mention a silly figure of 100 million for the club, which is obviously ridiculous as we are in debt, losing money still and don't have a ground that will be able to turn a profit. So this figure is absurd, but it's his opening gambit. Rightly or wrongly in our views, he has put a lot of money into our club, so he wants to turn a profit. This will hurt the club the longer he stays, but it will also mean more hassle and financial damage to himself. This he will also be aware of. Bhatia's resignation came out of the blue, which was just too much so soon after the news of such high season ticket increases. Some took the news to mean that was it, but far from it. This is Mittals opening gambit, as he too knows that Ecclestone will want a profit, but neither does he want to lose money. So this is going to continue and I'd imagine that eventually Mittal will get his prize and we will get the owners we want. Mittals love for the club outways Ecclestones desire to keep it. They just have to reach the figure that they agree on, but I'm sure they will. Most reporters who follow Rangers are saying that this is carrying on and that Mittal will buy the club. It's just going to take time. So lets not worry anymore, things are still better than we've seen for nearly 20 years. Let's not ruin that feeling over something that may or may not happen.
You aint seen nothing yet,the mob running your club will make the directors of WHU look like choirboys
You are, of course, right. It may take a while to adjust from grumpy old man mode. You have too much common sense for one man!
I'm with Ciarrai I'm afraid.. I'm finding it very hard to be positive right now, but I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong in my gloomy outlook.
Thanks TLR for putting a positive twist on this sorry saga - lets just hope that you are proved correct, and we can get back to doing what we do best - cheering on our team instead of bemoaning the fact that our owners are a bunch of t**ts COYRsssss
Irrespective of what the three amigos may have done in the past, I don't think they would willy nilly bankrupt QPR. That said, I would prefer new owners. COYRsssssssss
Are we? What has changed? Ok it would be nice to know why we got rid of Saksena, but Bhatia quitting is just a power move and part of their strategy to buy the club. They haven't and won't sell their existing shares so that shows their true intent. The only thing that we might feel aggrieved by is the price of the Season Tickets. But this was never going to please anyone and I'm sure that the increase still wont cover our running costs, so as unpalatable as it might be, this was always going to happen while Bernie was in charge. I'm sure even if Mittal had bought the club on Monday, the price of tickets will still have increased, just maybe a little kinder to the fans. But to expect an owner to subsidize our tickets is just a little too hopeful. So nothing has really changed, apart from Bhatia trying to make the job just a bit too hard and complicated for Bernie so that he sells his shares.
