These haven't exactly been the golden age of Arsenal, but success or the potential for success is there, but notwithstanding that, I think we should all just appreciate the current abundance of midfield talent we have, because such an array of talent doesn't happen or come together often. When Wenger and even Walcott said that our attack is up there with the Henry era, they weren't wrong. Look at our midfield attacking options and maestros, we have Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez, and even Ramsey who is top class on his day, and then Rosicky, and then you also have players like OXO-Walcott available and the list of our attacking midfield options is great! Football goes in cycles though, and eventually we're going to be at a time when we won't have as much options if any, and we will fondly look back and say remember back then when we had such and such midfielders.....Just remember seasons back when we had a midfield consisting of players like Denilson. So enjoy, it ain't lasting forever.
Agreed. I think we should just sit back and enjoy the football we are playing now. As long as we continue to improve and play good football, then its all good in the hood
Crazy to think we had players like Denilson, Diaby, Squallichi, Silvestre, Lord Bendtner and Almunia all in the same team, whereas now we're looking very solid in all departments.
As I said, this stuff goes in cycles, we will probably find ourselves in such a position again 4-5 years from now. That team you mention above came just 5 years after the invincibles 2004 season.
Very true - Before we played Man U BBC put a piece on the website, it was comparing todays Arsenal/Man U teams to one's 10 years ago. It was crazy thinking that we had Henry, Bergkamp, Viera, Fabergas, Giblerto, Pires, Lungberg (I think) and Cole all in the same team! But I do really like the way this team is shaping up, and I think one or 2 more players and (without any/many injuries) then we can have a real crack at things next season...
You mention United, look how it's completely gone to the ****ter for them, from 2007-2009 they were one of the best sides in England, and Europe, they had a lot of talent and I remember really respecting the football they were producing in that period, played some fantastic stuff. Now look at them, all they do is hoof the ball to Fellaini. Shows how quick things can chance unless you keep your eye on the ball and consistently sign up top talent when available. The good thing is a lot of our players are entering their peak years, like Sanchez, Ozil, Ramsey, and many are still young with bags of potential like OXO-Coq. The thing with the invincibles was that in 2004 when we went unbeaten many of our players were just going past their peak, that was the worse thing, if only they had been 2-3 years younger, we could have maybe dominated for 2-3 years.
