English Queen Park Rangers show interest in Ahly’s Fathy
Egyptian champions, Ahly may lean towards recuperating Seddik from Ismaily if their right winger, Fathy, decides to battle in England with the QP Rangers

Fathy is engagged with Ahly till 2014
Ahly’s right winger, Ahmed Fathy is set to meet his team's director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz to discuss English side Queens Park Rangers’ offer.

“The British club contacted me, showing interest to take Fathy on during the transfer window,” the player’s agent told Ahram Online.

The Red Devils are expected to hold onto the talented footballer and sources in the club insist that “Portuguese coach Manuel Jose will not let him go.”

In case the 26-year-old former Sheffield United back insists to return to the English Premier League, the Egyptian Champions are likely to replace him with their former player, Ahmed Seddik, who currently plays with Ismaily.

Former Ismaily defender, Fathy, has 107 caps with the Cairo-giants since he joined in 2007. He is a key player in the Egyptian National team, the Pharaohs, assisting in claiming the African Cup of Nations triple (2006, 2008 and 2010).

Founded in 1882, Queens Park Rangers claimed the title in the League Championship, returning to the Premier League next season after 15 years of absence.

Hi Yes have seen him play many times for Egypt....a very good solid defender....a key memeber of the Egyptian team that won the 2008 African Nations Cup and 2010 Squad..Al Ahly are one of the two biggest teams in Egypt (the other being Zamalek). Saw him play in 2008 at the African Nations Cup in Ghana (was out there doing some freelance research work on African Football).. would be a good buy...and is a decent player...

Sounds about right BUT worry about left... Reckon Orr and Dyer can cover the right flank.

QPR are lining up a move for Egyptian international Ahmed Fathy.

The 26-year-old signed for Neil Warnock and Sheffield United in 2007 at the tail end of the manager’s time there.

Fathy, who can play at right-back or in midfield, failed to cut it in the Premier League and soon returned home to end up at champions Al-Ahly.

But after being named in the African Cup of Nations team of the tournament last year, the Rs boss thinks it can work second time around.

If they're looking for money for him I can't see this happening. All the money is gone apparently; locked into a term saver account. Why they are bothering to talk to QPR I'll never understand.
