Edited 13th June. I wrote this before the full facts emerged regarding the riots in Marseille. Clearly the attacks on our supporters by the Russian and local groups have played a large part in what are the worst football related violence scenes we have ever seen. FIFA has now threatened to exclude both teams from the tournament if the scenes are repeated.

I see our lot are at it again in Marseille. Acting like total morons and giving our country the bad name we don't need. Especially before the in/out vote.
How should we deal with it?
Obviously the French authorities will sort out the ignorant pratts that they can lay their hands on.
But it really is up to us to deal with this problem.
Sometimes I just feel that we should take the totally horrendous action and withdraw our national team from the tournament. It would certainly make the twats sit up and think! That's if the idiots have a brain left after it's been pickled in alcohol.
How do you guys feel? It would be good if the England team could make some form of display before the match tonight which shows that they and we disapprove of these incidents. If they did something, how could they do it?

Reading the paper this morning it also mentioned the locals were partly to blame, but I agree that something should be done about these English football supporters? who drag the good name of our country through the mud, but I'm sure that Brexit will soon happen and they will all be able to return home

What makes me laugh is that " its never their fault" like the French police don't have enough to worry about. This sort of behaviour puts honest decent England fans in danger from other hooligans.

Not condoning their behaviour Gashead79 unfortunately the court of human rights banned the birch a few years ago, if they hadn't then we might not have asbo's being regarded as something to be proud of and football hooliganism might have been some thing from the past.
we all know the French police have enough to do and they are more than capable of sorting out thugs.
the mindless violence always makes headlines but far more worrying were the chants if the reporting is correct of ISIL where are you, we do not need anything to galvanise them into putting bombs around the place at any time but in particular where there are crowds of people just going to a sporting occaission

I think we need to be careful who we blame here without clear evidence, the media or the usual tripe from the Daily Malice seem to want as usual to blame English fans, not that i'm saying they are not to blame, but many of the images I have looked at can be interpreted two ways, but people seem to jump on the most obvious, let's blame the English, a cafe on fire as example, everyone condemning England supporters, whereas if you had taken the trouble to look more closely a flare or a fire bomb being thrown in to the building was the more likely cause, hence the escaping England fans are not going to be coming out in a non confrontational mood.

We need to remember it is not illegal to drink alcohol or to be boisterous, so until further evidence comes to light let's keep an open mind.

More media footage was released of English fan destruction but having again looked at the footage, I saw no England fans fighting, but what I did see is hundreds of English supporters being dispersed like a stampede by tear gas. The British police have already voiced against the inept handling by the French authorities, in a short way of words.

Yes, some English supporters will be intent on trouble but no more so than some other Nations who love to bash the English.

Are the supporters of any other nation in the news?

just watched another vid of England fans getting the blame, just released, if the numpties had looked closely it was Russian supporters dishing out kickings to English fans!

Horrible scenes in France. One of our fans receiving CPR after being attacked.

@andylines Witnesses at the scene are claiming that it's French attacking the English...

It might be worth those of us who aren't in Marseille waiting to find out what's actually happened before apportioning blame.

Whatever disgraceful scenes happened earlier/last night this was a targeted attack by a highly organised and brutal Russian hooligan gang.

@TRMaxtoneSmith @M4rk_0ne sky sports are reporting that it's Russians & French. England fans are avoiding trouble by the best part.

I have not seen a single England fan attack a Russian, a Frenchman or a policeman unprovoked. What you read is almost certainly bollocks.

Just spoke to manager of Marseille pub where trouble flared. Said local youths "came to fight", English fans weren't to blame #EURO2016

They looked for English fans to fight but no-one would take them on. They then chased english everywhere. It's terrible.

The Russian gang emerged from a side street and walked into main square

As I said live with @andygoldstein05 as I was being tear gassed, a policeman told me the Marseille locals were provoking the English.

If all theses hooligans from all over the world want to fight at these tournaments then they should be given a field somewhere so they can fight each other in they give all decent civilised fans a bad name.

Only problem is women and children got caught up in last night's attack. The Russian's crossed into the English section, some concealing their identities with masks/balaclava's - the English supporters attempted to get away, someone I know at the game, said in no way was the English to blame for what happened in the ground last night. No one is pretending the English are completely innocent by any stretch of the imagination but last night's attack was well orchestrated by Russians.

The Russians somehow got a flare gun into the stadium and shot a flare into another stand that had the England fans! They let a firework off too before the end of the game. Crazy scenes.
