What we should do is look seriously at dropping all the old guard - as they have clearly demonstrated that they are not up to tournament football & are not going to win one now
Drop Terry/Lampard/Gerrard/Barry/Ferdinand directly after the Euro's - (if not before)

Put in the youngsters now give them their head - with the proviso that we have little to no chance of winning the tournament but the experience will be invaluable by the time we employ an English manager & David Beckham as No2 after the Euros for the next world cup

We have a plethora of young talent that needs blooding now & should be fielding a team with a average age of 23-25 max by the time the WC comes round
 
There is only one man for the job - Stuart Pearce....aided & abetted by David Beckham, who would take over the under 21's

The FA could also retain Terry Venables as consultant in some capacity
