Watching this game....if John Stones is worth 50/60m and a International player then I'm ****ting golden eggs. He's flipping awful.

I'm with you on Stones, I cannot understand the hype? As a defender he should firstly be able to defend! He may be a cut above many of his CB competition in terms of passing and beating a player, but until he can defend, I can't understand his inclusion.

    Bah!

Klosse would walk into a Centre Back position.

If Stones,Cahill,Smalling etc is all we have to offer
we ain't got a chance in France.
    And as for Hart,fing useless

Agree re Hart, beginning to look like Ruddy.
Butland is head and shoulders better than Hart, Shame he's injured.
I was at Everton for our League cup game early last season and Lewis Grabban tore Stones to pieces!

But the press and pundits still keep "bigging up" Hart.

Agree about Butland and also Fraser Forster.

I actually think SMalling is finally showing that he can be a half decent CB. Stones is rubbish and Cahill is OK, but I would much prefer FF or JB between the sticks than showpony Hart. At least we have some improving youngsters; Kane, Rose, Alli, Dier and Walker coming through, I hate spuds but the longer they keep that band together the better it could get for England. They don't have any young English CB do they? We could really use a goodun or two!

    Bah!

Stones confidence is totally shot! He looks a totally different player. He needs a Club manager like Klopp, to instill some confidence and belief in him. Martinez was too wet, and Roy is too fuddery.

I would have loved him starting with Cahill, he's just too much of a liability. He doesn't know when to play and when to defend at the moment. The defence as a whole looks very shaky. Wing-backs looked strong though.

    Wilshire looked mile off it.

I thought Danny Rose & Kyle Walker were the best two players on the pitch??

They are definitely Wing-Backs. They offer far more going forward than defending. they are picked because they bomb on and overlap. Effectively becoming wingers. If they had to play as a defensive LB and RB...I don't think either of them are up to much defensively.

Walker blocked a "certain goal" if he hadn't blocked it!

Yes, I did say both played well. I think defensively both are weak. They might make a tackle or a block or two every now and again. but their whole game is about bombing forward. Overlapping, crossing etc. It's how the modern game is. It's how most big successful sides play these days.
