It's called North Macedonia at the insistence of Greece, to distinguish it from the Greek region of Macedonia that was the birthplace of Alexander the Great.

Mother Theresa was born in Macedonia.

It's the second most mountainous Country in the world, and the name translates to Highlanders.

It's home to parts of the cross that Jesus was crucified on.

Ohrid Lake is the oldest and one of the deepest lakes in Europe.

Until the modern era (mid 20th century), Macedonian was predominantly a spoken language. It had no standardized written form of the vernacular dialects.

The Millennium Cross is a 66-meter-high cross situated on the top of the Vodno Mountain in Skopje, and it is the biggest cross in the world.

Always think of Sid Waddell when Alexander the Great is mentioned. After Eric Bristow had won some tournament he excitedly exclaimed “It was said that Alexander the Great burst into tears when he realised at the age of 32 there were no worlds left for him to conquer. Eric Bristow is only 29!” Hyperbole overload.<laugh>

So at half time we have scored as many as France did against Gibraltar. But there will be the usual lot saying we were crap. it was only North Macedonia (who stopped Ital getting to the World Cup), it was boring to watch, etc, etc…
Other countries don’t seem to be infested with these self loathing types who can’t celebrate when the national side win.
