This is my contender for shortest thread of the day!

Lets start with the beeb page...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/

Just look at the headline, then look at the photo of Gerrard and Hodgson, it looks like SG has just said that sentence to the press, and the expression on Hodgsons face is "Are you fukin serious!" :D

Where is Crouch? Perhaps the most snubbed English footballer of modern times. Extraordinary goals to game record, can't get a game and the only reason I can think of is 'he looks wrong'. Then people trot out that ridiculous 'he only scores against lesser opposition' rubbish, when the rest of the team don't score against anybody! Of course there's many players "better" than him, but what's the point of playing them if they don't turn up in internationals? We spend a lot of time saying we should be more like Spain, but that isn't possible at the moment, so why not play to our strengths ffs? Crouch and Holt would give most international teams problems.

Very good point Vimhawk, can't be that bad, he made Joe Hart look like David Seaman.

I have always said that Crouch is best used in Europe at Int. or Club level. He is limited, and over a few seasons domestic league defenders can work out how play him, but what a handful for foreign defenders who've never seen him. Its a good option, and always has been.

I don't want to spoil your fun smart but what he said was actually quite reasonable.

"When I speak, I'm realistic and honest. At the moment we're not one of the favourites to win the World Cup but that doesn't mean you stop believing, working hard to improve and try to learn from mistakes you have made in previous tournaments.
"We have to have that faith and keep believing. You never stop believing in football. Miracles do happen."

    He didn't write the headline.

to win it like any cup competition you need a slice of luck. Germany Argentina and Italy have all won when they were clearly not the best team at the time. Plus in the European Cup we have had Denmark and Greece so sorry you do NOT need a team of world class players, you need a team that is together and a bit of luck.

Denmark and Greece won the euro Championship, which is a pale imitation of the world cup,no African or South American teams in it.

Disagree again tots, I think the standard in the EC is often higher I certainly don't think it's a 'pale imitation'. Apart from Brazil & Argentina most of the worlds top team are in it.

I agree it's unlikely England will win it any time soon, but you never know. Many of us did not rate England in 1966.

I believe England can do it and so do the majority of England fans.

That's why I managed to get @13.50 on the Moldova win. Money in the bank?

one win against any little country and the England fans think we will win it,then the Jurno's jump on the bandwagon, putting pressure on the players, who are'nt really good enough, then any luck we might have had that might have got us winning it(like the Chav's in the c/l)that goes out the window,we won't win the 2014 world cup.

Poor old Crouchy is just too unfashionable to get picked.
He looks a bit funny, so he's not in the squad.
    19 starts, 22 goals.

Having Crouch and Defoe on the bench has to be worthwhile.
They're the leading England scorers from the bench, with 7 and 5 and they work well together.
Unless England abandon all of the older players and start again, then they should be selecting those that have proven they can do the job, rather than those with big reputations who've repeatedly flopped.

More a case that he plays for Stoke, so he's not in the squad.

If he was on the bench for any of MUPLC/City/Chelsea/Spurs/Arsenal/LOLerpool, he'd be in the squad.

There's nothing poor about Crouch, apart from his first touch, he earns thousands (or millions) and for that we get what?

Sorry the further away Crouch is from any football I watch the better I feel. You'll be telling me about Bent's fantastic goal scoring ability next.

Have a nice life Crouch and don't leave retirement too long and mind your head on the way out.
