As it has been decided to carry on and play the game on Tuesday as planned what do we think would be an appropriate way to display solidarity with the French people following Fridays horrific events?

I personally would like to see the French tricolour made up of red, white and blue cards paced on every seat to create a stadium full of the French flag .
Other people have expressed a desire to have all of Wembley sing the Marseillaise but I'm not sure that would be something that could be done without ruining the moment.

Whatever happens it will be tough night for a lot of people and a night to use our beloved game to send out the message that we will not be terrorised by a group of individuals determined to try and take away our way of life.

    Thoughts.

Ben, the plight of the Lebanese people is equally as distressing and we should also share their pain but the opportunity has not arisen for us to show solidarity on a purely ordinary human level.

Carrying on as normal is one option. Sing the anthems, play the game. Islamic State followers would enjoy watching people crying during a special ceremony.

I thought the world was coming together united against the atrocities inflicted by cowardly ISIS bastards. The opportunity came on 24 hours before the attacks in Paris, but alas, it wasn't on our doorstep & not considered newsworthy enough for the media to exploit. It's not all about France.

Unfortunately you're right mate. The whole situation is **** and we should treat every atrocity equally. Sad times.

Best way to show solidarity would be to go full strength and smash them 10-0.

Agreed, and stick a barrel full past them, with full gloating about a handsome victory over an old arch nemesis.

This is a football match let's treat it like one.

I would think the crowd could sing the Marseillaise.
I'm going to try to learn as much as I can and also have the words printed.

    Allons enfants de la Patrie
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !
    Contre nous de la tyrannie
    L'étendard sanglant est levé
    Entendez-vous dans nos campagnes
    Mugir ces féroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras.
    Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes!

    Aux armes citoyens
    Formez vos bataillons
    Marchons, marchons
    Qu'un sang impur
    Abreuve nos sillons

    That's all they sung above.

It's good that it's still going on. Can't live in fear of these people or else they've won.

As for everyone singing the Marseilles. I'd prefer England fans to stay silent and respect their anthem. England fans can't even sing our own anthem properly, so that's little or no chance of singing theirs.

I think the average England crowd doesn't even know the words to our own anthem let alone trying to learn the Marseillaise, nice gesture though Peter

This is all that is sung at most events:

    God save our gracious Queen,
    Long live our noble Queen,
    God save the Queen!
    Send her victorious,
    Happy and glorious,
    Long to reign over us,
    God save the Queen!

I don't expect to learn the lyrics perfectly to the Marseilles but I will take a printout and also learn the tune, the tempo and the rhythm.

I'm sure people, especially the French, will appreciate the effort even if they are not impressed by our singing.

Let's see what happens on tuesday.
