Thought we should have one as it's an England game. Personally can't see us winning France have 4 or 5 world class players we have Rooney who is suspended. Will probably play one up front Carroll or Welbeck and pack the mid-field. I think best we can hope for is a draw. Views?
I think england could do better than everyone thinks. Our back five is pretty darn good, Hart and Cole are arguably two of the best in there posistions in the tourno. With Gerard and Parker we have a very solid midfield. We lack flaire but young and welbeck can put the ball in the back of the net and we have rooney returning (ok no good for this match). The real problem is the creativity will create any good chances?
I think we're writing ourselves off too quickly. Hart's the best keeper currently in the world and Ashley Cole's the best LB. Harry Redknapp said yesterday that our defence is as good as any, and must be in Rio Ferdinand can't get in the squad! Parker & Gerrard and top class and Rooney / Welbeck are good. I think we're weakest on the flanks where Walcott, Downing & Milner don't inspire. Can see us drawing with France!
Totally disagree. France have some great players in midfield, but they're still not playing very well as a team and will have a very difficult time breaking our defense down. Their defense, on the other hand, looks pretty shaky. They might have a lot of flair in the team, but they don't look difficult to score against. They don't have a lot of height or strength. Hodgson will see this and get the team playing a fast and physical game. Not sure if Carroll or Welbeck will start, but they could both potentially give Mexes or Rami a lot of trouble.
I really hope you are right Joe but I can't see us winning the midfield and therefore think we will struggle.
Don't need to. Stand off them, stay deep and wait until their possession breaks down. When we get the ball, move it forward quickly and test their mediocre defenders. Walcott and Chamberlain could cause real problems as well if brought on against tired legs. Possession means nothing if you can't create chances.
1-0 England for me. If France somehow do score first though, I think the floodgates will open and we'll have a high-scoring game.
Time for Parker to prove what a good player he is. I've got an ok feeling about Hodgson, Ashley Young commented on how organised everything is, how every player knows exactly what is expected of him. I don't think it will be a stroll for France. I'd also go 1-0 England. Just look at the Denmark game.
