Won 4-0 tonight against Sweden. Connor Wickham came off the bench and got a goal, I feel for the lad because I dont think he has had a fair chance and will be off in the summer. I also think he is a gem and will become a top premier league striker, but unfortunately not with us. Tom Ince grabbed a brace, he looks a player.
Although we've had our disagreements marra, I'm with you here. Said it loads of times but if Wickham was my son I'd want him out of Sunderland. Tarty Farty obviously doesn't rate the youngun so what's the options? Let him rot in the ressies, send him out on loan or flog the kid on?
Ive seen every game hes played for us and while the lad has a load of potential he will not score any where near the goals we need at the moment at this level and while i agree he should have more play time as a sub i also realise mon prefers 1 up top and he simply hasnt got the goals to command a starting place. Imo he isnt playin as much as some would like for the good of the club as we are not in a position to gamble on young players until we well and truly shake off our yo yo team tag for me its a matter of wrong place wrong time for the kid but i hope im wrong
I just dont get it lads. We paid 8m for him, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool all had an interest. He has come right through the England set up and we have seen the undoubted potential he has. I just wish Marty would smell the coffee for once.

Just because we paid 8million for him dosn't make him a 8million pound player, you could argue that we have failed him as a club by not developing him enough through more game time. However when giving an opportunity you have to take it with both hands and we all saw what he produced against Bolton and he was poor.
Cant believe he is still only 19! Imagine when we were 19 man, the footballing brain just isnt there yet but the lad has the drive to get there. I read somewhere he spent all summer doing MMA training to build up his stength etc. I understand MON not playing him as he just isnt ready, however hopefully in the coming weeks we secure PL survival and we can start playing Wickham to see whats hes all about because as SAFC fans we just havnt seen him yet. On another note what a disappointment this season has been so far, only the derby to play for! Saying that I expect a bit of a relegation scurmish for a week or two, we are Sunderland!
