Morning lads less than 24 hours until the fixture list is published, Did you watch the under 21's last night, it was terrible to watch we played just like hoofer pierce used to play, but the real reason ive posted here is because the number or lack of white players, now i know this is controversal and im going to get the jump on the racist bandwagon posters digging me out, but it is seriously worrying about the lack of young white talent coming through, where are they? are white kids not interested in football no more or are they just no good anymore. i mean when you look at the crowds i would say that on average 90% of the crowd is white, more white people talk about football than any other race, so what is the reason, can anyone enlighten me,, serious debaters only please All the best Brooking
Maybe because white kids have more chances of doing other jobs? Debatable. Black kids play better? Obviously or they wouldn't be picked. Black kids do better at sports and worse in other school subjects? Fact.
Well if the black players are better than the white players then they should play. You can't start putting in quotas that's racist Unfortunately they've played poorly so far in this tournament so if they're the best we have then we really are screwed. P.S. why are there no asian players coming through the ranks?
It is a fair comment. I hope we dont get the PC brigade in on this one. One of the joys of moving from 606 to here is you can have this sort of debate without it being modded. This problem has been around for a number of years (since late 90s) at club level, especially at Millwall. You look at the youth players that are in our acadamy (is it called that anymore?) and you will be lucky to see a white face. But when players get to the age of around 17/18 or so where it is time to step up to the reserves/1st team, there are hardly any blacks. Maybe it comes back to society/gangs/making money/commitment. You see on the news so often this teenage black who is a "promising footballer" who was gunned down innocently. Bollocks was he innocent, or in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is part of the "fashion" these days to be a "bad man" or part of a crew who demand respect, sell drugs (at ridiculous weights and prices I might add), carry guns and hurt, maim, kill anyone who gets in the way. And it is more and more in the city, black gangs. Mopeds smashing shop windows and taking the gear. Shootings, stabbings. THe government need to grow some balls and say it how it is. Gang violence is the blacks. Operation trident, black on black crime. I could rant on for hours, but you lot will get bored of it. Sound like an old man like mighty.
The reasons of why there are more Black players coming through at under 21 levels is because there is more oppotunities for Inner City Black kids then there are for white kids (inner city or rural), i grew up where the few youth clubs for 'bored' kids were mainly used by black kids and that was late seventies to early eighties when whites were overwhelmingly in the majority, totally different now. Any talented white kids coming through now are the ones who have pushy parents or whos talents are recognized by good PE teachers or coaches.
