In 2018 a NFL franchise might use Wembley for the home games and if they do England will use other stadium for their home games Im sorry but the FA are completely missing the point and are idiots. Why build Wembley for the England national football team and then just let american rugby play their? I think England should only use Wembley for World Cup and Euro qualifiers, using it constantly for every game sees small crowds and Wembley loses its wow factor when we use it for stupid meaningless games. We should move the friendlies around the country like they did a few years ago before Wembley was ready. We have Etihad, St. James Park, Anfield, Emirates, Villa Park, St. Marys, Stadium MK All big enough stadiums that we should fill for Friendlies and will see the national side move across the country making it more excessable for the country. And when the qualifiers do come round it might actually mean something to represent your national side at Wembley rather then what it has become now
Can understand your point of view moving from ground to ground. Would give a few more people the opportunity to watch their national team play. Not convinced it would be of any benefit to the actual team though. Would San Marino players prefer to play at Villa Park or Wembley? Would playing at different stadii on different surfaces take away a slight edge that we may have, when the majority of players are used to the Wembley surface. Not being a fanatic for international football (I would rather watch a Championship match), I dont mind either way ............... but NFL? FFS NO!
Tour the country with the national 11 ? it´s a good idea if you ask me. They do it here in Germany & it works a treat. The FA don´t own wembley so wembley can do what it want with it´s stadium. We all know the farce & cost of it, I guess wembley ain´t getting enough cash in. A game in Southampton on Saturday & then at Villa park on Tuesday. Next game´s in London, then Manc Poo, then Newcastle, then Liverpool.... It´ll be good for all fans.
"The FA are idiots" That's not news is it They are looking to let NFL use Wembley because having built it for England that cash cow isn't proving very profitable, match attendances are dropping and not generating enough income. I agree that moving games around the country would make the games more accessible and probably encourage people to attend if they haven't got to trek to London. Would playing at different stadiums reduce our edge? As far I'm concerned, we don't have one, so no issue there. San Marino would probably prefer a trip to Wembley but it should be what the England fans prefer that is more important. Although I know the FA usually take fa notice of the fans!
Big games would still be at Wembley, other games - like the on ones coming up against San Marino and Estonia - would be perfect to take on the road. It worked when Wembley was being rebuilt - I think every game during that time was a sellout, including the one at the Walkers that I couldn't get tickets to...
