After playing a mammoth 7 games for Man U, with a superb scoring rate of 1 goal in total Jesse Lingard has been called up to the England squad. Is Roy Hodgson ****ing kidding? If Simon Walton got a surprise transfer to Man U, and played a couple of league cup matches you could put your mortgage on that utter useless **** selecting him. ****ing boils my blood how piss easy it is for english lads at big clubs to do **** all and get selected.

I'd like to think this is more of a "let's have a look at a young'un while we're playing friendlies" call-up, rather than one based entirely on merit. Otherwise it does seem rather hasty to leapfrog him over more deserving candidates.

Not as bad as Phil 'played 45 minutes all season for Man Utd' Jones getting called up.

Nathan Redmond should've been called up, but he plays for Norwich, so no chance there.

As much as it pains me to say it, that monumental diving twat Zaha has been very good this season. He's out in the cold.

People used to whinge that we'd always just call up the same old guard, calling for youngsters to have a go. Now people whinge that we call up promising youngsters that 'haven't done much. Whatever an England manager does the same people will whinge.

I prefer to play the strongest team. Loss of form, suspensions and injuries tends to give other players a chance. If you are going to rest a player and play somebody else then only do it for one or two at the most so that they are a fair chance of help from more experienced players around them. I was quite pleased with the team on Friday.

We should select Karim Benzema since he'll never play for France again.. that would surprise them

It would be a token gesture only. He'd never be able to actually play for England.

I will watch us in the Euros as I will watch all the matches but I've given up on us for a while now, they should have changed Hodgson after the last tournament. I know we would probably struggle no matter who is in charge but with Hodgson there is no hope at all. I think calling up Dier is on a par with Lingaard, maybe England players in a few years but nowhere near now and shouldn't be in the squads.

Was just reading a good article about the last match which I didn't watch which asked the question why didn't Woy play Smalling and Stones together seeing as they are the obvious best pairing for the future? Easy question to answer really, because he is a clueless Delph loving owl faced dinosaur

Well, that small club are near the top, so it makes sense.

Woy ignores the existence of the bottom half of the Prem it seems.

I don't mind him, I went to uni in Leicester so I'm used to it.

Too many people are precious about Leicester fans coming on here.

But then when we were in the top half of the PL we didn't get any called up.

That's because we're Hull City though. Oh, and attackers seem to get noticed more than defensive players.

(Oh, and if you're referring to 13/14, we weren't in the top half as much as you think. Only 2 or 3 matchdays. In 08/09 the English players in the team bar Turner probably weren't good enough for England)

    Fair point.

Was wondering the the other day, do you reckon CJM pays for his trips to Antigua and Barbuda, or is the club or the country's FA responsible?

Interesting question. God knows, wouldn't be surprised if they paid for themselves.

I don't think he'll be losing out on much money if he is paying for himself either, he'll have it back quickly enough.

Flights to Antigua are about £350, as a development squad member I can't imagine he's on that much money. Plus it's a ****ing long way to go to play for a country that are really, really **** at football.
