Aside from the terrible decision (IMO) to make Rooney captain what else stood out for me is how terrible the squad is! Are players like Delph, Colback and Jones really good enough to be picked for England? Why is John Ruddy not in the squad ahead of Forster or Foster; is Roy really just assuming because Ruddy plays in the Championship he must therefore be worse and if so why would such a clueless * be employed to manage our country for big money? Why is Phil Jones in the squad; he is very poor (of course; he plays for Manchester United) and certainly far worse than Michael Turner. Is Jack Colback really any better than Bradley Johnson? I'm not saying all our boys should be in the England squad but Roy seems just to pick players who play for big clubs or if not the Premier League rather than based on any kind of merit. Elsewhere I hear rumours that Villa are going to buy Tom Cleverly for £8 million and yesterday Leicester paid a very similar amount for McArthur. Makes me even more annoyed that we sold a far better, in Leroy Fer, who still had a long contract left for the same price!
I honestly don`t care about team England anymore DM they are just terrible to watch and the people in charge are just there to pick up the McDonalds checks Sturridge is the only player that deserves his place . We are no better than teams like Greece and Algeria and we will certainly not win anything in my lifetime.
We destroyed our chances at a good team with the creation of the Prem. We no longer need to produce talented players as we can just buy them all from over seas! I genuinely think we'd be better off using Championship players for our National team. There's far more names to pick from and they'd probably care a darn sight more than the usual lot who seem to find England an inconvenience more than anything. And players don't get in on Merit, it's who they player for and who the manager likes.
is leroy fer a far better player than james mcarthur? not sure i agree with that. very similar technique and ability in my opinion - perhaps fer has the bigger potential but in terms of commitment i know which one of the two i'd be signing for £8m and he isn't dutch!
as for england, we currently have a very poor selection of players to chose from. i'm not sure hodgson is doing a bad job considering. as for ruddy, in my opinion he is the 2nd best english keeper (hart is definitely no1 imo) but in all honesty i don't think there is much to chose between him, forster and foster but unfortunately hodgson prefers the latter. ruddy wouldn't get any caps anyway so probably best off out of it at the moment
