England have overtaken Brazil to move to fourth in the official Fifa world rankings, despite their recent poor form. Fabio Capello's side crashed out in the last 16 of the 2010 World Cup and have not won either of their last two competitive matches as they Euro 201 qualifying campaign falters. World champions Spain are at number one, with Netherlands and Germany in second and third respectively. Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland are in 31st, Scotland are 61st and Northern Ireland are 62nd, with all three teams climbing the rankings. Wales remain at 114th. England are at their highest ranking since 1997, when they rose up the chart following their journey to the semi-finals of Euro 96. Spain currently have 1,871 points, 210 points clear of the Netherlands. Germany have 1,417 points, while England have 1,146 points. Brazil (1,130), Italy (1,059), Portugal (1,046), Croatia (1,033), Mexico (1,007) and Argentina (979) are the remainder of the top 10 teams. Ranking points are awarded based on results, the importance of the matches played and the strength of the opposition faced. The team's results over the last four years are taken into consideration, with a higher weighting given to more recent results.
Wow, I guess Capellos not doing so bad after all. I dunno why he gets so much slack, I think were still unbeaten
How is that even possible?! By that logic, we could be ****e for the next 4 years and we could end up 1st in the rankings!
Wow, how is that possible! Will Fabio pick up a nice fat bonus for it, amazing, & I thought we were totally ****e. My bad.
