Postman Pat has said he will stand down next year, who do you think will get the job of England manager, who do you think deserves it, and why?

Stuart Pearce for me, has been around the set-up long enough to know whats happening. Has had club experience with City and managing the U-21's so let him stay under Pat for another year and mould him into the next manager. I think thats the FA's plan anyways to "groom" the next England manager and Pearce fits the bill.

I think it should be an Englishman (it does give that extra passion for England), it should be someone with a proven record in top-class management, especially someone who can show an eye for picking talent from the most unexpected places, not necessarily someone who ever (quite) played for England but who did have a long experience in international club football at least, someone who speaks with a funny accent, who has a broken nose ... God, nooooooooo!! I can't go on. It's unthinkable. Yes, Stuart Pearce!

Stuart Pearce will get the job because the FA (clueless old f***s) pander to the media. Will he do the job? No I reckon.

Who do I think should get the job? Jose Mourinho.

    I'd give it to Redknapp.

Love him or loathe him, as a manager he is superb.

Think he'd do a great job, Pearce alongside with the long term aim of him taking over.

Pearce is a true England legend, a deserving one, not one the media forced upon us.

Pearce is a true England legend, but that doesn't make him the right man for the managers job. His track record has been solid, yes, but nothing to set the world - or the players - on fire. Pat's tenure has been so "foreign" that there has been a backlash for an English manager, picked up and ran with by the media. The FA are gutless, incompetent, greedy, anachronistic, self serving buffoons (only Blatter and FIFA can top their antics) who year upon year, decade after decade, consistently get it wrong. Phew, that's a bit of a rant. <ok>

I wouldn't sniff at Mourinho mind, if he feels ready for international management yet. Say what we like, the lad knows how to win.

If he was willing to take the job, I agree with this 100%

How Capello is still in the job is beyond me ...

I don't understand why people are harping on about having an English manager. Whoever is chosen will have a job description, and given the choice between Sam Allardyce and Jose Mourinhio, I'd choose Mourinhio any day! But 'Arry would do well in the job.

Wouldn't get Mourinho, he normally buys players to make his team and I don't think he'd do good at international level where he'll have limited choices. Which is something Rednapp also might struggle with. Somebody like Allardyce who's only interested in winning.

Harry Redknapp for me. He always gets the best out of any squad he's put in charge of and I like the style of football his teams play. After all these years waiting in the wings, he deserves his chance and would be a popular choice amongst England fans IMO.

Hate to agree with a turd but this would be my choice too, he's done "triffic" wherever he's been albeit when he leaves his team they go bust. at least we won't be able to blame the tories when it happens to England

I so want to put down a sophisticated, witty, urbane answer that is both succinct and accurate. I cant think of one. Stuart Pearce it is. We're in the claarts, aren't we?

Bobby Knoxall for me, he knows **** all about football, but when we dont win again, at least he would provide a good laugh, and as a plus would rip the **** out of the mags.
