Just heard the sad news that former Everton & England goalkeeper Gordon West has passed away-he apparently was going to play in the 1970 world cup but didn't want to travel,so Bonetti went instead and we know what happened there!
It led me to wondering how many Spurs keepers have worn the 3 Lions shirt and all I could come up with was:
Ian Walker,Paul Robinson & Ray Clemence all the other have been a cosmopolitan mix from all round Europe.
Anyone think any others and how do they compare?

I know what you mean but Clemence doesn't count because he made his England reputation with Liverpool. Besides Peter Shilton became first choice and Clemence refused to be number two and hardly wore the England shirt when he played for us as far as I recall.

TMT are you saying that Clemence didn't play for England while a Spurs player?
I thought he did,oh well.
Seem to remember England had so many keepers at one time that they thought it would go on forever- the current crop has proved that wrong haven't they.

I wasn't sure but I knew it was either none or very few as Shilts took over. But I maintain that Clem made his name at Liverpool for England and not at Spurs.

See where you are coming from Thor, but hardly the point - the OP asked which keepers had played for England when a Spurs player...... Once even at the very end of a career would suffice surely?

Better sign Clint Dempsey just in case...

I mentioned on the Fulham board the other day that I'd love to see him replace Kranjcar, especially as a very similar fee's been touted for the American, as he's only got a year left on his contract.
Cover and competition for several positions, already lives in London, fully integrated into the English game, scores goals and adds grit.

I'm a big fan of Dempsey but he'll want first team football so I don't think he would come here. I'd love to see him tried instead of Lennon or even in the VdV role if we rested Rafa but I just don't think Redknapp would do it

Relayer,I'd agree with you if Clemence did a Jennings and played for his country very early on in his club career and therefore the club deserved the credit but Clem was already an established England keeper long before he came to us. It's like giving Arsenal the credit for Jennings being the Ireland keeper when it was with us that he made his international name. I too see where you're coming from but for me he doesn't really count like Jennings did for Ireland.

don't understand your argument, the o.p said how manySpurs keeper's have played for England,it's not about who he was with when he made his International name,he played for England while he was with us,that's all
