English football louts has got to be one of the top 3 all time favourite subjects of the british press, so if theyre standing up for the english lads then you know something's rotten in china. Strikes me that the situation is basically : - english fans meet for a drink and a singsong, as per any fackin football game - french police decide to throw tear gas at them and kick the **** out of them - english defend themselves by throwing bottles - english lads get sentenced to prison in france - frnech and russian fans best the **** out of any english people they can find - uafa threatens to expel england from the tournament ****ing joke it is.
I agree with RobSpur's post but I wouldn't go to a tournament with a big group of England fans it's the same **** every time. Drunken Northern morons getting smashed up by over zealous police.
Why can others go to tournaments with no bother? It's not like the Irish are renowned for not fighting. Just behave yourselves and respect your hosts. It isn't hard.
To be fair Wales Irelands and Scotland rarely qualify so so we don't know if they would have got into trouble. England have been pretty well behaved for the last 2 decades.
I think the way us Nigels look upon our fellow members of the union has a lot to do with it. The image of the tartaned titian, complete with a half empty bottle of Fine Fare budget whisky staggering aimlessly about whilst bawling unintelligible utterings is so comical to us. We bear you no ill will whatsoever to the point of indifference, a fact which probably makes the animosity to all things Nigel from the Scots all the more virulent.
Ireland were in the last euros and probably took the most fans. The mayor of the city they were located took out adverts in Dublin thanking the fans. Probably a tourist thing to get them back and spend money on the swally. Thing is irish bring as many if not more fans to tournaments yet don't feel to act the Dicks although I believe the Anglos are a target anyway. Russians done that to the Micks I'm sure there would be a kick back alright.
