The defence still worries me greatly, nowhere near strong enough. A great forward line though, so we will have to adopt the Kevin Keegan, " we're gonna score more than you" mentality to progress this summer. Still cannot believe Walcott did not make this 26 as a minimum. I would drop the following 3 players (assuming everyone is fit on 24th May) Delph Townsend Lallana
Rashford will be one of the ones being left behind, Roy has basically said that already. Bit worried that we only have 3 centre halves in the squad, get one suspended and another pick up a knock then we could be struggling but I suppose Dier could play there.
It might turn out to be a defensive horrorshow and looks weaker but Englands defence under Hodgson has been tight for a long time. Hopefully that is the case.
I also worry about the defence, I would drop Henderson -- simply not good enough! Delph - not played enough football Rashford.. not ready for this level.
I will get slaughtered for this and I know it's never gonna happen, I'd drop Rooney, Delph and Henderson..
Not by me.. he hasn't done much to deserve a shirt.. I just think he may be useful in midfield.. he wouldn't be my Captain either!
Wouldn't drop Rooney, far worse players in the squad. I reckon rashford will be dropped along with 2 midfielders. Probably Delph and Townsend for me
I would keep Rooney, but not as a certain starter, think he could do a job as an impact from the bench as an attacking mid, in behind a front 2. With a weak defence I would take Rashford, scored in the Prem and Champions League, so at a standard comparable to the Euros. Delph & Townsend are a joke and will surely be cut away, with either another midfielder or striker. No room in my mind for Lallana, Sterling and Allli, all to similar so likely 1 of these will go. Milner & Hendersonwill be safe as they are more proven as holding midfielders than Drinkwater & Dier
Townsend is there because of Welbeck's injury and I think is likely to go to France. I understand why some people aren't exactly thrilled by that prospect, but to his credit he's largely delivered in an England shirt and has been playing well for Newcastle recently. It's a bold choice to include him and not Walcott, but at the same time it could be strongly argued that Walcott hasn't delivered frequently enough and for too long a time. I think the three to be left behind (rightly or wrongly, and barring injuries) will be between Rashford, Drinkwater, Delph and maybe Walker (rare to take two specialist right-backs).
just looked at the squad .... biggest glaring gap is certainly the defence and midfield doesn't look that much better Rashford could easily be an ace in the hole!
