Not much Baz ball on show so far. Very good bowling by NZ to have England 3 down. 258 to win, currently 62 for 3.
England waiting for Southee and Henry to finish their spells. Different story when it's the backup bowlers
Thing is with England is there is always a collapse round tbe the corner. But this team is different.
Bonkers. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/64794111 England lost to New Zealand by one run in one of the all-time great finishes to the second Test in Wellington. On a barely believable final day at the Basin Reserve, last man James Anderson was caught down the leg side off Neil Wagner when England needed two to win. Anderson had joined number 10 Jack Leach with seven required, after Leach added 36 for the ninth wicket with Ben Foakes, who was caught at fine leg for 35. Anderson fended off a vicious bouncer from Wagner, then sensationally clubbed the next ball for four. Leach saw off an over from Tim Southee, leaving the stage set for Anderson, but Wagner's fourth wicket left England 256 all out and drew a deafening roar from the Basin Reserve crowd.
Shame. Thought we'd do it when I went to bed but New Zealand very decent team. Great game for the crowd as test cricket was becoming dull as dishwater. Bring on the Ashes.
Really enjoying watching this team. Always something going on to revive my great love of Test Match Cricket......probably the most wonderful, skilfull game. Looking forward to the summer ahead. Just what the doctor ordered....thrilling finish! Let's hope everyone stays fit and we can take it to the Aussies.
Stokes inability to “run” fir a large part of the innings cost us seemingly. Easy 2s we’re 1s after he injured himself.
Think it's a knee problem....I'm not sure of the prognosis, but it's certainly hindering him. He needs to get it sorted if he wants to play a full role in the Ashes, but he's got the IPL before that. Bet he doesn't bowl much for CSK.
Watched up until lunch, and thought it was well balanced, but not that well! Great stuff though. The easy , and now more conventional thing, would have been to bat again, post an unbeatable score, probably draw , maybe win. Stokes, declaring when he knew he was injured is in faith with everything he has preached since he took the captaincy. Well done him, and well done NZ. Cricket won in Wellington, along with NZ, who are always fantastic value for a country with a population of 5m.
