And not a single positive to take away from that game....except, the boys had a bit of a run around in those conditions. Doesn't matter if you can't play.

If we were at war such comments would (and should) have you shot as a traitor. <ok><laugh>

No Budgie flags seen but the rest of the Football League well represented.

For someone who couldn't give a **** about the national team you still have a lot to say. Did you watch the match?

Personally I prefer Sterling over Welbeck and I think Barkley plays the number ten role better than Rooney. People say Ross loses the ball a lot but Wayne doesn't exactly have the best first touch at the moment or particularly good ball retention. Glen Johnson is a gash defender but at least he drives forward. I lost count of the amount of times I screamed shoot, a lot of sideways and backwards passing going on. When Honduras got the ball they surged forward nearly every time.

A poor showing and I would rather see England go out at the group stage playing the youngsters than still trying to prove that Rooney is a world class player.

    Sterling > Wellbeck. Barkley > over-weight and over-paid Rooney.

    Couldn't agree more.

Pretty much agree with all what you said. We weren't awful tonight, not great but not awful, I've seen England play far far far worse for the majority of the past 10 years at least our ball retention seems better than it was and we are now actually playing football on the floor. Glen Johnson stood out for me like a saw thumb and not in a good way. I though Lalana was poor tonight and although both Barkley and Whilshere have a tendancy to lose the ball they came on and put some urgency in the game and do show moments of genuine quality. The game could have been very different tonight had Sturridge taken his chances, I also felt we were holding back abit because players didn't want to get injured particularly as Honduras were putting in some pretty abnoxious tackles. It's tough to judge alot from friendly games, so I wouldn't read too much into it, although I definitely think there are positives and it seems things are finally being done properly, it seems like there is some sort of plan in place and one that looks beyond just this World Cup.

Can't comment on the match as I've long since given up watching England friendlies-life's too short and there's a hundred and one better things to do with your time.

Ptc I think your right about a plan beyond brazil. I want to see us go there and put up a fight but even getting out the group looks a hard task. I'd be happy to see a team full of the future,go there with no inhibitions, get tournament experience and look towards a decent show at the euros.
I'm in agreement with players already mentioned that they're not up to it. Welbeck flatters to deceive,Johnson looks all at sea and has the audacity to as good as say the position is his because there's no competition. It sounds like the ox could be fit and I'd rather him in than welbeck or sterling they carry more threat.
Overall disappointed but live in hope it was purely a match to acclimatise and not risk injury.

Lulling the world into a false sense of security ready to strike. Will be 4-0 up against Italy before they know what's hit them. And will win the final 2-0.

OW fook it and Leeds will win the championship by ten clear points next season and Norwich will go down after losing to Ipswich last game of the season.

Do you think the last bit was going over the top ?.

not that it matters but my brother and his wife's family were there with his norwich city/england flag though granted, i couldn't spot him. probably in the bar, hiding from the thunderstorm!

terrible match and totally agree with those who say we should play barkley and the other youngsters ahead of the likes of rooney. we look much more dangerous when he's not there.

What do people think the team will be against Italy? I reckon it'll be pretty much the same team perhaps with Sterling in there instead of Welbeck or Lallana. Personally I'd like to see us start with:

    Hart
    Jones, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines
    Gerrard, Wilshere
    Sterling, Barkley, Ox
    Sturridge

Lots of pace lots of urgency. I had no idea who to put at RB, as you say there's not really any competition, Jones could be a top class CB but atm I think he might be the best option to have there. I haven't advocated Rooney being dropped but seeing so many players in those deeper positions who seem to be able to perform that role better than him, I think now is the right time. If Barkley continues to progress he is going to be a hell of a player and if him and Wilshere keep linking up how they did last night, they just seemed on the same wavelength which noone else could keep up with. We seem to have a glut of talent in the attacking midfield positions and this is even without the likes of Townsend, Walcott and Rodrigeuz
