Thought this would interest a few. Or at least kill 5 mins. In the 3 version i did Norwich never got relegated. The most interesting one was Stoke, Wigan and A Villa finising on 39 points. I think A Villa went down on goal difference. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/predictor/default.stm
I've done these several times and always get completely different results dependent on how optimistic or pessimistic I'm feeling at the time! My general inclinations though are that Wigan will struggle to pick up points from their awful set of fixtures. Stoke look even more toothless in attack than we do so I feel we have a good chance of both beating them next week and finishing above them. Villa have performed well in recent weeks but they are completely unpredictable - just as you think they are beginning to turn the corner they put in another horror show. Because we have the 3 home games I think we will scrape our way out of trouble. Fingers crossed!
I really do believe our fate rests with how we perform on Saturday. Lose and tension and panic sets in and hampers the natural instincts of the players in the remaining games. Win and calmness is restored. One thing that worries me is our goal difference. It could well lead to us getting relegated. If Wigan haul themselves level with us on points they will, by definition, have a better GD and only Villa's is worse right now. Wouldn't Lambert love to stick one over on us just like he did to Col Who. It's not beyond them either. He's done it once already this season and that was in the middle of our excellent run! People are writing off Villa but they have been playing well as have Wigan. If you saw the way Wigan outplayed Man City for virtually the entire game last night then you would not expect them to go down, no matter how hard their fixtures. Wet Sham could do everybody at the bottom a massive favour and take the wind out of their sails on Saturday by putting one over on them.
After filling out some results with two games of the season left I have Newcastle on 37 points and four other teams on 38, including us. I'm not going to fill out the rest as the last time I did one of these was when we got relegated to League 1! (For the record, I predicted that correctly ) However, like I've said above, momentum at this stage of the season is everything. One win can change everything. That is why no matter what happens, we cannot afford to lose to Stoke away. It will keep them firmly entrenched in their bad run just like ours.
