Well assuming the squad stays as it is-where do you think we will finish come the seasons end.

I’m optimistic, but will leave any prediction until I know the makeup of our squad.

I want to see us higher up the table and after so many years of false promises I don't expect this season to be any better. At least we haven't, as yet, gone out and spent a shed load of money on wasters and the rebuild can only be judged on how the team performs. Mehmeti and Cornick failed to impress me at all last time out, despite arriving with fanfare, and I just hope some of this year's newcomers impress more than those two did. Pearson will have to shoulder all the blame if it goes wrong again and we all know that he is aware of the situation and I wish him and Bristol City all the luck they will need to even compete in a consistently stronger division every season. I think there will be at least eight teams that will be better than us again and the chase for promotion, if we can be in it for at least some part of the campaign, has to be maintained with good results at our own stadium. One win followed by 2 losses and a draw will not fit the mandate. Despite my reticence I am looking forward to the fight and hope that watching the grass grow isn't a better option. <doh>

Imo if we’re that low NP’s position will come into question, this season we need to be challenging top 6, even if ultimately we miss out.

You aren’t known for your optimism as far as City’s fortunes are concerned, with good reason I know, but you do seem a bit of a pessimist.

I’d rather be pleasantly surprised if we do better than expected than build us up to be challengers when I really don’t think we will be
I’d love to be proved wrong

well so far on the people that voted-it seems most think we will finish about the same as last year.

The players that have arrived look to be a decent bunch and better than what they are replacing.

Ye this is one hell of a lot harder to get out off quality is far higher but we generally play better against the so called better teams.

I would count at least 8 teams I would expect to finish above city, and there is always a couple of surprises. Recruitment looks good so far and my heart says we will do better than last year. Just need to be awarded some penalties and tighten up at the back

Up to now we've rolled over lower/non league teams.
First game in a stadium against very ordinary opposition and we don't win.
Ok not a penalty but come on, we should beat them easily................if we're going to finish above half way.
If Scott goes, don't think he will, we need to spend on quality.
Only then will we get above half way.

I will cast my vote after I've watched a dozen games, no way can anything be judged on pre-season friendlies.
IMO although important the quality of the players brought in is, for me more so how they gel and if every player is reading from the same script..
Either way, Pearson should now have everything in place to having his best season, anything close to last season would not be acceptable IMO.
In fact I'd go as far to say that not challenging for at least a playoff place would be failure from a manager of his stature..

My thoughts precisely, I don’t know enough about the players we’ve brought in if I’m honest . The lad from Derby especially seems to be exactly what we need, and the other 2 defenders certainly add height which we were missing last season. But like you said it’s how they fit into the team that counts. If we can continue the team work and cohesion we had at the end of last season we’re going to have a very good season. All this about other teams are better than us is nonsense, if, as a collective we play well we’ll be difficult to beat, regardless of the opposition.
