So after seeing the winners of the End of Season awards announced do you think that it was the right people winning them? I personally think DG was always going to win the Player of the Season award, i just hope he doesn't follow the recent winners of the trophy by leaving the club. His goals next season i think will be the difference between sitting in mid table or finishing in the play offs. Nevertheless DG was a worthy winner who's goals and performances have pleased all. JE winning goal of the season-- don't think their was a better goal all season although Andrew Taylors volley was quite spectacular! Wasn't surprised to see Buckley win Young Play of the Season,he has come on leaps and bounds this season and his end product is getting better. Could he possibly be played through the middle next season if DG wins? Final award i picked out was Marriappa winning the Players Player award. I was a bit surprised as i thought Tiny would win that after the season he has had? Marriappa has improved this season and i think Tiny next to him has probably helped to bring the best out of him. Next season looks bright and if we can build on this seasons performances and improve the squad again then play offs could be on the card! COYH
Not being in the dressing room, it's hard to judge. From afar, I'm happy that Mariappa got player's player. Player's player often goes to the most underappreciated player, and often to a consistent player. On those measures, I'd say it was between Mariappa and Cowie, and the right man probably won. Tiny is unlucky to come out of this season without an award, but he has gotten the plaudits though the year, and after Graham and Doyley he's probably the most popular player at the club. If he has a similar season to this one next year, he'll win player of the season at a canter.
Awards ceremony was highly entertaining! Matty Whichelow has a great laugh on him that starts everyone else off , I think the awards were right and chatting To Duncan Welbourne and his wife was awesome!
I dont think the awards were surprising in any way - so were probably correct - not getting to watch games much now though makes my opinion not so "educated" as it might have been a year or so back though
Agreed Leo not going to games we are heavily reliant on the internet ,various reports and varying stats ,collating info from both sides and then taking the middleground!! Watford world seems to help, I might come on board with that next season to save frenchies fingers o I think you can still have enough info to formulate an opinion!
Yes Norway you can call me JET I agree with NNW i think if Tiny carries on with the same vein of form next season then he will be a certainty for an award. Can't recall him having many poor games at all this season, he's added alot to the team. Fantastic free transfer signing!
Tiny was our best player this season without a doubt, he just didn't score 27 goals...not to take anything away for DG, coz he's been outstanding too
Hornette is right , Tinys not a `glamour` player like DG but sure as hell was just as important this season , I think DG has nicked it because of his dressing room antics to raise moral etc!
thanks Jet and hope we get at least a couple more years out of him,as you say a fantastic free signing ,Nice one MM and GT on that score!
A fair bit and a lot , i think Frenchie ,although I seem to remember GT charging around the countryside in a bid to seal the deal!
John Stephenson will be a big loss, wouldn't be surprised to see him help brighton make some shrewd summer signings to prepare them for Championship life. Im just hoping that the majority of the players stay this summer as I'm sure we are braced for bids for someone like DG. Next season gives us a real chance to push on, the youngsters will have had a good season behind them and i expect them to be better for that experience. Honestly believe Play Offs next year providing we maintain consistency over the whole season and not just in patches
