After a super start we are in my opinion starting to falter with the defence being the main problem. However in November we face a run of matches against the main contenders and this will act a good measure as to "where we are" in terms of a sustained challenge for promotion. Peterborough's away form is staring to let them down but Preston in particular look ominous. What are you predictions as to the top three at the end of November? Mine are BCFC , Preston and Sheffield United. A win against Oldham is vital for us.
I would go with your choice, except to point out that all teams in the top ten have gone in fits and starts so far, and who is to say Preston wont also. I think the Div1 is stronger than many gave them credit for, and a run from the lower reaches would not be a huge surprise
Still think we have a defensive problem that needs to be sorted out before we start predicting promotion. It has been a problem for years and for some stupid reason we can't seem to get it totally sorted but at least we are in abetter place than when the defensive woes were at their worst. By scoring more goals than the opposition we are keeping ourselves in a comfortable league position but think how well off we could be with a stronger back line and some clean sheets. As you rightly say LARED November could be our undoing but with a more competent back line we could be still sitting at the top going in the depths of winter and wouldn't that be nice?
Lately we seem to be conceding 2 goals per game. That's recoverable against lesser teams but I will be amazed if we are undefeated by the end of November as the better teams are more capable of defending. If we are still well on top at the end of November we will be odds on.
to be honest we are not well on top at the moment..!!!! after 13 games level we appear to be but have made it easy for SHEFF AND PNE
Why? It will probably be a relief to everyone. But if one becomes two or three, it would need a superhuman effort by everyone not to be concerned.
Let's hope we don't become part of the problem when the inevitable happens because negativity on this site does filter down to the dressing room when you consider the pervasive side of our communicated world. The only people we don't want to feel down if we lose are the players as they are the ones who have to pick up the pieces more than any of us so negative comments about players becoming the fall guys for a loss would be totally out of order. As someone once told me "there are never problems just opportunities to improve" so I think we all should take some of that positivity on board for the entire month of November - eh!
preservation of something often needs a kick up the bum to regain positivity maybe Junior will have his bitter sweet moment on the weekend!
