Although we lost last night - the score was cruel to The Gills. We deserved no less than a draw - and if Norris could only find a 'home' goal ( still awful attempts at goal when reasonable chances came his way )- and if Dack hadn't missed a sitter - and the Brighton keeper pulling off a few very good saves ( spectacular one to stop an own goal ) - The Gills would not have been flattered if we had won the match.
I was particularly impressed with Houghton. I liked the look of Wiliamson and Jackson.

We had a few regular first 11 players missing - but all of the players who featured last night could stake a claim to start the season.

I was very happy that we were able to pass the ball - quickly and to feet most of the time.

The only slightly negative points I thought was that towards the last 10 minutes or so we started to hit the ball long -and lost some effectiveness of our overall game. It was only a feiendly - we didn't need to 'chase' a result. I also thought that McGlashan and Jackson ( down our right hand side ) 'over-complicated' their play instead of getting the ball into the 'box' - at times we lost this opportunity

If the performance of last night was replicated in the League, we'll finish in the top 6.

I don't always agree with always but on this occasion always is right, I thought we looked really good with our possession and attacking play and deserved more than the solitary goal.
Play like that come August and it will be a pleasure going to the matches, I don't say we'll beat everyone in the league but a team will need to be on their game to beat us.
