    Evening.

The Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre has said he is 'flattered' by the interest shown in him by Liverpool Football Club. He said 'It is flattering for any player of course, when somebody like Liverpool shows an interest in your services'.

He has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Villa and Liverpool in the past couple of months due to his excellent performances for Celtic in his debut season in the SPL.

We need a left-back and he has won the SPL Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Football Writers' Footballer of the Year in his debut season. Can't be a bad player if he's won three awards in his debut season.

Anybody seen him play? Is he worth putting a bid in for? :emoticon-0100-smile

Like you being Irish I have a soft spot for Celtic and would have them as the second team whose results I follow.I've also been over there, its fantastic,(i have family who are staunch Celtic fans and thats who I travel with),and I've seen him play,I too reckon that he's great going forward and I do believe like Glen Johnson, that Steve Clarke can improve his defending. He's actually a better defender than Insua.Even when he's attacking,he does hold his position.Which in itself is a sign of a good player. Some left backs get caught out of position when hit on the counter, like Glen Johnson used to,however this lad is alert enough to get back.He attacks like Dani Alves, but is cleverer than Alves when it comes to tracking back.

I reckon he would be a good signing for you, he provides width on the left hand side which opens up space for Suarez to work in and his crosses would come in useful for Carroll.

If we signed either him or Clichy who has only a year left on his Arsenal contract, and has thus far refused to sign an extension, which makes it possible,
and he's a player that Damien Comolli likes as it was Comolli that plucked Clichy from the french 3rd division a number of years ago. Then I would be happy.

Why do you want clichy KPR? On his day he is excellent, but more often than not he is positionally poor. Added to that his crossing is just unbelievably bad, you won't believe it until you see him continually kick the ball out of play over and over again, it is incredible! Also he is prone to these stupid brain freezes where he gives the ball away for no reason. If you want to be better than us don't go for players who are among the worst in our team.

I agree with this. It was him who played David Villa onside for the opener at the Emirates. Every so often he seems to be a couple of seconds behind everyone else and, with fine margins in the offside rule, it makes a huge difference. With him being a wide player too, it means the middle of the park is wide open when he's just that yard or so behind the defensive line. But as you say, he's a good player when he's on it. would probably be worth a look at around 5-8 million, but anything more and I think there are better options.
