Cos your ****e, AHMED Elmohamady admits he may to leave Sunderland this summer after struggling to feature in Martin OâNeillâs plans. Elmohamady has played a total of just 35 minutes of first-team football under Black Cats boss OâNeill after being a regular under predecessor Steve Bruce. The 24-year-old is one of those who may feature in Sunderlandâs final four games after OâNeill indicated his intention to hand a chance to those fringe players who have barely been involved during his stewardship. However, after returning to Wearside following a week in Dubai with the Egypt squad â playing in friendlies against Angola, Nigeria and Iraq â Elmohamady says he is considering his future at the Stadium of Light less than 12 months after completing a £2.5million switch. Elmohamady said: âI spoke with OâNeill before I joined Egyptâs training camp in the UAE and he promised to give me chances to play in the remaining league games. âThings will be clearer afterwards regarding my future with the team. âIâm considering leaving the club, but I havenât taken a final decision yet. âMaybe I can win a place in the team before the end of the season. âIf the situation continues as it is now I will leave because I am looking to play and not sit on the bench because it would have a negative impact on my game.â Elmohamady initially arrived at Sunderland on a season-long loan from Egyptian club ENPPI before Bruce converted the move into a permanent deal last summer. The right winger made 35 starts under Bruce, but is yet to feature in the first XI under OâNeill. âI was in the starting line-up early in the season, as was the case last season, but the teamâs results fell away significantly and the club hired a new coach,â said Elmohamady, who is Stephane Sessegnonâs closest ally in the Black Cats camp. âHe made several changes and I was one of the players OâNeill left out of the team. âResults have improved significantly, so he has the right to stick with a team which is achieving good results. âOâNeill is a good coach at the technical level and a decent human being on a personal level and there are no problems between us. âItâs all just opinions on the art (of football). Iâm not angry with him for leaving me out of games. âItâs his right to maintain a team which is achieving good results and itâs my job to do my best to regain my place in the squad, but I donât expect many changes to the team.â If Elmohamady does leave the Stadium of Light, he is unlikely to return to his homeland, despite interest from Egyptian champions Ahly. âAhly havenât made any approaches to sign me from Sunderland,â he added. âI respect Ahly but I intend to stay in Europe as long as possible. I have no intention of returning to Egypt. âI want to continue my career in England because the league is fun and having got used to playing in the Premier League, it would be difficult to leave and play elsewhere.â
I think he may have the wrong end of the stick there. Don't think he is **** BTW, just a division or 2 above his ability.
Sorry, but he receives a lot of stick for nothing. He wasnt brilliant under a tactically inept manager, who always played him as a panic sub (I.e. Bruce panicked cos he **** tactics werent working, so he threw Elmo on). Put him in a team with an actual gameplan, and support for the other players and he might just be better than everyone thinks. If he plays a couple of games for MON, and still runs around with no apparent aim I will hold my hands up but until then I will not write him off as a loss.
Saw some clips of him playing for Egypt last week and it was barca esque stuff from elmo. Beat his man on the right cut inside beat another man played a great one two then chipped a lovely through ball to the striker who put it in the back of the net. Id like to see him given a start of the right against villa, Seb on if he's not performing
As much as I supported Bruce while he was our manager, I will hold my hands up and say "Bruce and his tactics is what happened"
My jury is out on this one, but if Mon gets rid, I wont shed many tears. If our players dont make the grade, time for them to move on. Its time we stopped buying second level players. I want to see us leaving a legacy for our youngans, not the legacy I was left.
If he had the confidence to do what he does for Egypt (he probably doesn;t because fans slate him all the time) we might have a good little player on our hands. He seems like a genuinely nice fella anarl.
