Just been watching the Sunday supplement on Sky and all 3 can understand why he got sacked although the timing was poor, One who had met Short before xmas said that he was a passionate man and this would not have been a knee jerk reaction, short had a lot of admiration for O,Neil . They also said O,neil seems to have lost his passion and they said we had no fight against man Utd yesterday this is the worrying part for me it looked as if they had accepted a 1-0 defeat was good enough. They all said everything is in place for us to be a succesfull club the fans the ground the training facilities. Short could also be looking at the coaching and scouts as no home grown talent is coming through either. I also have a feeling O,Neil has missed his buddy Robertson. I have been going to Sunderland for 45 years and this is season is some of the most boring football I have seen in a long time, I also think season ticket sales are not being renewed and this may have another bearing on Shorts decision. Why is so hard for a manager to get this right they have the backing from Short a full house if they get it right please please please not McClaren. My choice lets start again and give Poyet a chance he would not be too bothered about getting relegated and he has done well at brighton. Moyes would fill the stadium straight away but sadly won,t come.
Why not sacked after the Norwich game?, bizarre to me the timing but a top international manager needs to be brought in, maybe Kevin ball given the job for the time being.
I fail to see what TOP INTERNATIONAL manager would be attracted to a club with 5 managers in the last 7 years? We will only be able to attract the likes of McClaren (grateful for any job tbh); Hughes (who has now made an arse of the City, Blackburn, Fulham and QPR jobs in the last 5 years himself) or the mad ****er Di Canio and all the baggage he will bring. Top class manager coming in? Don't hold your breath. Prepare for Wilko mark 2 or Buxton, Crosby etc standard appointment and another decade of ****e to follow. AS Duncan Bannatyne would say "for that reason alone, I'm out".
I can honestly see Kevin Ball being handed the reigns till the end of the season, unless this has been pre-empted and we've been in contact with someone already? Saying that, we did it when Bruce went and MON came in, apparently contacted weeks before Bruces departure. Not saying Bally would keep us safe but if anyone has any fight in his belly then he is the man.
I reckon its been on the cards for a while and mons replacement has been in the wings for a bit, its all down to ellis now, he's made the call
I make you dead right mate. I think he made his decision a few games back and MON maybe had a couple or 3 games to turn it round, 1 win in 3 woulod have bought him a lot of breathing space. Unfortunately it didn't work out so now we have to wait and see who the new guy is. It won't be Di Canio, he's not an Ellis Short type manager, too hot headed and unpredictable, Ellis won't want that. I just hope he doesn't go for Hughes or McClaren.
