I have an idea that Ellis Short knew nothing much about MON when he was appointed and that NQ was more likely to have been involved. Having watched MON's team perform pretty miserably, even before NQ departed, could those performances have been instrumental in Ellis ensuring NQ going? Always was a strange parting of the ways, wasn't it? Just a thought!
I think you're underestimating Ellis's nous mate. When he was first touted as taking over SAFC I was impressed at his knowledge of the game. I don't think he has bought us as a plaything, he is a business man who hires and fires on a daily basis. If he sees something isn't working he will be quick to act, as you don't become a billionaire by sitting back letting others make decisions.
Not all yanks are dumb asses. Short is a pretty wired up smart cookie. I doubt there is a single thing about all his business interests that he doesn't know about. You can become a millionaire by luck but not a billionaire.
I work with a lot of yanks, a lot really are thick as ****, but when it comes to making money they are a cut above us guys. Ellis will be one of them type that know's everything about his businesses, every last little detail that can affect his companies. He's no Tom Cowie for sure.
I've worked for a huge US global branded company and let me tell you the guys at the top are ruthless and totally clued up. They miss nothing and know everything about the business they are in. Short will be even a notch above that imo.
