Can't get my head around something: What was the point in the summer window if you're willing to sack the manager 5 games into the season? Why? When the window is now closed and a manager has a squad that he didn't assemble or have any input into, and he has to wait until January before he can get anyone in Why was Di Canio not given a proper chance? Why sack someone after they've have 12 games?!!!!!!!!! IT MAKES NO SENSE FFS
Sick of the managerial merry go round We are becoming what newcastle were Next manager should be in for the duration of his contract Fans of the team, not supporters, fans should put up and get on with it Support the ****ing team, not have a go
Possible question is was it Short who pulled the plug on him or the other Italians. PDC has been erratic in his team selection and tactics after players were brought in to meet, maybe he was asking players to perform way about their abilities.
He's allowed manager after manager to throw silly money around plummeting us into the red. He brought in free agents left right and center and given them ridiculous wages and now we can't sell em. He's sold our best players to balance the books and not replaced them with equal or better, authorises 14 signings that the present manager didn't want and then sacked him 5 games into his first season. If that doesn't deserve an explanation before he appoints his fourth manager then I don't know what does.
Short isnt building a team around a manager, he's building a system that allows a manager to come in and get on with it. Just like what happens at the big clubs, a new manager comes in and the foundations are already there. Everytime we've had a change at managerial level, EVERYTHING changed. This time it will just be the staff, not the scouting network etc.
I said as much a few weeks ago and was lambasted for it by some. This is exactly what Di Fanti and Angeloni have done for Short. We have built up a system that has allowed PDC to be moved on and a new manager brought in with minimal fuss and upheaval. Any new man may well have his own backroom staff but the framework remains intact. A change of emphasis not structure. For me if its RDM and he brings the likes of Ray Wilkins as an assistant I'd be delighted. Quality people in place to work with a decent squad and we can move on from this in a heartbeat.
Short by name and short by nature..He certainly has a ruthless streak which goes against my grain.. However, I will be there on Tuesday supporting SAFC regardless who is in charge..
Totally disagree, NQ guided ES in the beginning and he bought into NQ"s 3 managerial choices whilst providing finances to progress us. That was not working so he bought into the Italian model which was sold to him by Di Fanti Sr (a financial world contact). PDC was maybe the choice to take over in summer but was brought forward because of our league position. Went for broke and survived. PDC has not worked out so move him on while there is time to climb. I find it hard to defend PDC because of his selections and tactics and his propensity to blame everything/one else but himself for poor performances.
Ellis has made decisions on other peoples advice left right and center since he got the club, almost all of it has gone tit's up. My point is, I'm not going to demand he sells the club or anything but Paolo held his hands up and accepted responsibility and apologised for his failings. There were many a failings before PDC, I think Ellis needs to face his responsibilities like paolo has and acknowledge his mistakes instead of hiding behind Maggie Byrne all the time. He's Top Dog, we need to hear from him.
Bri' I totally agree with you. Others saying we have a background machine that will keep things seem less. Well they brought in each and everyone of the new signings. What if they are ****? Some managers will refuse to work under such a system. How much choice was Paolo given with players? None it would seem as he provided a set of characteristics that were completely ignored. Paolo didn't work out? He was never given a ****ing chance!
All part of a plan I suspect and Paolo the sacrificial lamb....... But I will always remember he saved us from relegation last season and for that reason alone I think we should thank him, We were DOWN before he came. Can we have Sess back now ;o)
I believe none of the 14 were personally sourced by him. The players he sourced were not signed. I agree with the DoF approach but it has to be more flexible to our next coache's needs. Paolo wanted Huddlestone. We could of got him but he was denied. nuff said.
