Mr Short has finally done what many of us here and in the SAFC wider community wanted - he's sacked Steve Bruce. Some of us wanted this to happen a long time ago, but it must be remembered that this is never an easy decision to take and Short has made his decision carefully. When Quinny moved sideways into his International role, the writing was most definitely on the wall. This, for me and others, was the start of the countdown for Bruce. The question was - how long will the clock tick? Fortunately, Short seems to have both a head for business and a head for us, the supporters. It seems clear that he was acutely aware of public sentiment well-before Saturday. The jeers and abuse were the final nail in the coffin. His mind must have returned to those early days when SNQ sold him the idea of a passionately mental fanbase - fans he realises are key to this club. So I'm quite impressed with Ellis: Decisive actions, not knee-jerk reactions; an ear for the fans; a willingness to take tough decisions. Now the big test - Who will be the next manager? Who will Ellis seek out for advice? Surely Quinny will have an input - but now Ellis isn't so green, will he take this opinion with a pinch of salt? I think he'll want someone tough, but someone who'll go down well with the fans. Will it be O'Neill?
Good point, just who will interview the contenders for the job, and what questions will be asked by both parties?....What criteria will they look at...
I'm sure Quinny will have an input but let's not forget, this will be his 4th appointment in 5.5 years not including himself, so it has to be spot on this time. His reputation is on the line too. O neill or Hughes would tick those boxes. O neill would provide me with a permanent hard on. Lol
Too much info there Cest lad.....not the thought I wanted in my head today...but I will be excited too
To be honest I hope Quinn has nothing to do with the interviewing process or the decision of who is going to be the manager. This is the third time his reputation has been put on the line with the next appointment. One was Sbragia and one was Bruce, he's too loyal.
My thoughts exactly Adz. I reckon Ellis will be well-aware of this too. I think the American side of him will want someone with a winning mentatlity.
