Here is a guy who simply doesn't accept failure. Yet, since he took complete control of our club there has been a steady decline to the point where we are now.
I do actually think he has the clubs interests at heart, but the more I look at it..the minute Big Niall walked from our club we lost not only a folk hero, but the football knowledge that I think is needed in the boardroom.
I am sure that there are Americans out there with a great knowledge base on English "Soccer"...but in the real world, an American with an Itialian with zero experience in the EPL are making decisions that are having a huge impact on our football club.
With hindsight..I'm sure Ellis wishes he could have either kept Niall on or replaced him with someone (a proper football man) who could give the board some sound advice on what is needed.
For what its worth, I know he is a spent force as a manager, but Peter Reid knows this club and knows football..would have been a great shout for me

    Bang on.

There are 4 other US owned premier league clubs. Guess which one is the only one where the owner has NO previous experience in running a sports club/brand/team?

Good call. Reid would be ideal & lift the fans. Niall left because he didn't like what he seen as did Keane with Ellis.

    Good God.
Leave Reidy in the past so I can remember the good times and not have to think about his demise, when we were as bad as we are now.

Cyprus, I am not advocating Reid coming back in other role other than advisory..in fact, Doesn't have to be him, just someone with a handle on EPL and SAFC..I just think our Owner needs someone with that kind of Knoweldge. After all, Quinny came from playing into that arena and it helped enormously...Hey its just a thought

Ellis Short needs to grow some ****ing balls & tell the players who is the boss. if the players don't like it don't ****ing play them & it's as simple as that.

its not really ellis job though. the manager should be doing that. ellis has never really been one for the limelight. we need to ship the old gaurd out like o'shea, vaughn and seb as it seems to be the guys who have been here for a while who are causing the problems

<yikes> Mate, Ellis is only 8 games into his second season 'in control'. I think you'll find that up till that point Niall Quinn was chairman of this football club. It was Quinn and Bruce who brought this 'Old Guard' on ridiculous wages not Ellis. Since Ellis has became Chairman he's had no choice but to try and undo the financial damage brought on by Quinn.

You're blaming the wrong person here mate. That's fact.

Ellis Short is the one who employs the managers and makes available (or not as the case may be) funds for transfers. If he cannot motivate the manager how can they be expected to motivate the players? I'm afraid, as in all forms of business, the guy at the top takes ultimate resposibility for success and failure.

Not when somebody else is installed as chairman mate. The only thing Ellis can take responsibility before the start of last season is investing money into the company. All other calls were Quinny's as his job title suggested. Chairman of the Board.

bri..i'm not "blaming" anyone..what I am doing is suggesting he looks at the decision process. At one time he had Quinn to bounce ideas off. Now he has no-one. All I am saying, maybe, just maybe, he might look at appointing someone who knows the EPL well..and hopefully someone who knows SAFC as well. Thats all I am saying..don't think I mentioned blame or anything like that.

To be honest I can see Ellis Short getting rid of the club for what he can get or by administration, he must be sick at taking 1 step forward & 2 steps backward, but, who would buy a club that's turned out to be a bit of a poisoned chalice, all I can see for our future are the Cowie & Murray years coming back!

    Sorry about that fella.

I feel that our present problems 90% come from Quinns decisions as Chairman. Ellis has had no choice to cut the wage bill. As the deadwood can't be moved on due to ridiculous wages Ellis has felt he's had to sell other players to have us running in the black. Very difficult decisions i assume(wish he had replaced Sess though).

I don't think EPL experience and knowledge counts for anything, such is the rapid rate the league is evolving. Gone are the days of hard tackling direct british football, the league is looking more and more continental by the season which is why the likes of Southampton and Swansea are enjoying their football more. Ellis still has a sidekick to bounce off in Di Fanti, he has a continental knowledge, what's more, Ellis is now the chairman. His sidekick has less power over his investment. But this system is a work in progress and shackled by over paid deadwood which we can't shift.

What I'm trying to say is that since Ellis appointed himself chairman, he is taking the bull by the horns put some of the wrongs right. His mistake for me was putting too much trust in Quinny as Quinny is clearly one of the men in football with knowledge, who are getting left behind as English football evolves.

My mates facebook status, home and away for 20 years + :

Not happy one little bit and if I hadn't bought a ticket for the derby I'd be washing my hands of Safc now. My farewell game will be next week, it's got nothing to do with results as I have and would follow them through thick and thin, it's the sanction of the board to allow Poyet to recall that turd of a man Bardsley!! I've found myself over the last 48hrs or so questioning just how good Ellis Short is for our club as his decisions over the last year have been strange to say the least????

Obviously if Bardsley is jettisoned from the club I will return meanwhile good luck Safc
