Please get rid of Bruce before it's too late, you can't afford to wait till after the Blackburn game.
I'm afraid Mr Short sees life very differently than we do. If Bruce limps along for the next few weeks with a point here and there and into January, I reckon he will be here until May, or until we are firmly entrenched in the bottom 3. If a struggling manager isn't sacked after one of the worst results in the last 20 years at home, he may never be sacked. Bruce doesn't cost Short money. He saves him it in the transfer market. That's his saving grace for our owner. That of course is totally buggered if we are relegated or flirt with it for the rest of this campaign.
I really think Short is backing himself into a corner. Take a hypothetical situation (unlikely yes, but possible) that we take 4 points from the next 2 games or even beat Wolves and Blackburn, but then lose to Tottenham and QPR. Nothing will have changed in terms of the fans opinions, but it would seem even more unlikely he would sack Bruce after defeats to Tottenham and QPR This will take us into January, drfiting towards relegation. Even if he if act, a new manager comes in with less time to assess the squad and possibly bring in his own players. A very worrying situation at the moment. I have criticised people in the past for what Im about to say, but I have got it in the back of mind that would it be a blessing in disguise if we get beat at Wolves at the weekend? Would that force a change?
If we win against Wolves and blackburn, that would not guarantee Bruce's survival. It might indicate to Short that we have turned the corner, but if we then lose to QPR...
Yep thats sort of my point. How can he sack him following a defeat to QPR if he hasnt after a defeat to Wigan...
If I had time to trawl through some of our early 90s form I'm sure I could find at least 10 worse home results than getting beat off Wigan!
its the accumulation of defeats that are the problem, not the individual defeats. Bruce had 4 games to turn things around, now there is only 2. If Bruce does manage to win the next 2 (convincingly) then Short will give him the benefit of doubt and concede that perhaps we have turned a corner. Losing afterwards to QPR (and presumably Spurs) will show that the corner has not been turned and winning against Wolves and Blackburn was a blip.
Exactly. I really hope though that Short isn't getting disillusioned, in which case he will be looking to offload our assets and cash-cow us. And like you say, he isn't a fan so only cares about money, his money.
