...apparently we were after Ekitike last season and he opted for PSG. He would have plenty of playing time with us but maybe he thought he would be in a better position playing for PSG who had Mbappe, Messi, Neymar and others in their list. It beats me to know as what made him believe there was a chance of him being chosen ahead of the trio as compared to playing for the team that desperately needed players. Ekitike reminds me of Francis Jeffers who was an up and coming striker at Everton with numerous admirers. He opted for Arsenal who by then had a plethora of strikers already proven in the Premier League and obviously to all and sundry (apart from him that is) better than him and arrogantly saying: "...I don't want even to discuss about Newcastle United....". Are we going to see the repeat of the Jeffers' scenario on Ekitike? PSG wants now to offload him but it seems even Nottingham Forest who are shopping for a striker don't want him! I wonder who advises these young footballers.
It's quite simple Newcastle were keen and so we're PSG so he went there like most players would. It's too soon to declare him useless just because at 20 he didn't oust some of the best fwds in the world at PSG. I read Dortmund and Milan were still interested among some far less appealing clubs like Everton and I still suspect he'll have a good career........ he probably will and does wish he came here, but It's no different to when players choose nufc over lesser clubs and come up short. Joselu is at Real Madrid.
Jeffers was always a very odd signing by Arsenal, he wasn't anything more than promising at Everton, and had hardly scored that many there. The idea of him moving to Arsenal and competing with Henry and Bergkamp is hilarious. Dunno Ekitike so we'll, but I assume he's just been overhyped and clearly isn't all that.
