Gedo and Elmo have been called up to play for Egypt against Ghana. They are going to be gone from the 29th of this month to at least the 16th of October. So neither will be at our game agaisnst Aston Villa. http://www.kingfut.com/2013/09/22/bob-bradley-calls-ten-pharaohs-abroad-ghana-play/
Well that's ****ing good. Who thought having internationals at a time when their clubs still have a game was a good idea? That ****ing ****** Blatter I presume.
****, at least we should be able to manage with a back four of: Rosie Faye Davies Figs but it leaves us with even fewer options
About that. They have a training cap they are required to go to as well as 2 friendlies in the buildup to the game against Ghana.
Bruce can tell them to do one! They're paid by us! They don't miss a league game for a game that's played 10 days later!
Not sure they will be gone for the Villa game on the 5th. Egypts games on the 29th and 2nd are largely meaningless friendlies and I doubt SB will release Elmo for those, while Gedo is probably not going to be ready till the Everton game on the 19th. Egypts big World Cup game against Ghana is on the 15th. So both will be back and available for the 19th barring injury.
My guess he'll let Elmo go on the 6th for the last four days of training camp which ends on the 9th. Gedo can go whenever he's ready for light training since theres no way he'll be in our squad till the Everton game on the 19th.
Bruce doesn't have a say in it, if Egypt call them up then they'll be gone. Egypt might release them to let them play but Bruce can't just tell Egypt they're not going.
Actually he can. Although the whole thing is actually quite ridiculous. The club does actually come first but Blatter always insists on wading in and demand players be released to play for country before making threats left, right and centre. So whilst we can originally say "no thanks", FIFA will probably insist they go. I don't think Egypt can demand they "have" to attend a training camp.
To be honest we won't miss what we haven't had, so I'd let Gedo go, it'll help with his match fitness. The final decision rests with the player, so if he would rather stay he can pull out with an 'injury'.
Gedo should go and train with them IMO if he wants to be in the team against Ghana. Good warm up for him for the Everton game. He's Egypt's second highest rated striker according to the latest FIFA 14 rankings. Elmo should back up Salah, while Fathi is the top ranked defensive CM. http://www.kingfut.com/2013/09/22/fifa-14-egypt-squad-ratings/#comments
no you got it wrong the calls up are being sent earlier as the rules says but all the players playing abroad (elmo-gedo-salah-ghaly-etc)+ al ahly players who are playing in caf champions league won't join untill 6 oct
Thats what I said in post #11...Elmo won't go till the 6th...but Gedo isnt playing and wont play in the Prem for a while so he might as well go and train with Bradley so he'll be considered for the Ghana game.
the camp starting 26th of this month will be for local players from Zamalek-ismaily-enppi and other egyptian club who aren't playing regular football about 16 players
Ah. Well thats good. The article didnt explain that bit or I didnt catch it. Good that they get to play for us against Villa as that has to be a game we want to take 3 points from.
Brucey can openly pull internationals from any friendlies if he wants and any competitive game disguised as an 'injury' - which would probably be something such as a stubbed toe, a sore tooth or a shaving cut.
