Ken Bates always argued against reducing the top division from 22 teams citing lost revenue from two matches. Look at the size of that trough now. Silly thing is the match revenue for the lower league clubs was supposed to be underwritten by the cut they get from the FA anyway. With such selfish motives football will never make progress. The FA Cup decision was probably influenced by their new sponsorship deal. In the end money always wins the day...
