Did not see that coming https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...rest-evangelos-marinakis-arteta-b2640835.html
There were links to Evangelis Marinakis earlier in the year, where it was reported he wanted Edu to join his network of clubs (Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos etc). But nothing seemed to come of it. Looks like there was truth in those reports after all! Miguel Delaney also said that Marinakis has offered to treble Edu's current salary. I can understand why he wants to leave in this context - 5 years at one club, wants a change, higher salary, more power across a range of clubs. Good luck to him. Just have to make sure we appoint the right person to replace him and keep it moving. I'm sure Arteta and KSE have known about this before it became public knowledge.
He's been brilliant for us. Transformed this club from where it was in 2019, underachieving with high paid, high profile players who weren't delivering. To a club that has been challenging for the title again. Maybe it's the right time for him to move on, and freshen things up again at the club. The next appt is really important and it needs to be somebody who like Edu can get players who feel invested in the club and the culture.
