I'm off to Edinburgh soon and stopping in leith next to the royal yacht... Can anyone suggest any stuff to do for days out etc.. Well be taking the kids too!
Edinburgh Zoo, and the Seaworld over the Forth Bridge might keep them occupied for a day. Edinburgh dungeons too are a good laugh. Feck knows what else there is to in Edinburgh, beyond the castle and the pubs...
- Edinburgh Zoo - Rosslyn Church (Da Vinci code) - Ghost Tours - The Scotch Whisky Experience (http://www.scotchwhiskyexperience.co.uk/) - The National Museum (http://www.nms.ac.uk/) - Edinburgh Castle - Horror Tours - National Gallery - Camera Obscura (http://www.camera-obscura.co.uk/) Plus tonnes of other things like St. Gile's cathedral, Greyfriars Kirk, a trip up the Scott Monument etc. It's a compact city and easy to get round and you can get a day-saver ticket on the buses for £3.20 (adults) £2.00 (kids) which allows you all-day travel anywhere in the city. Enjoy
- Edinburgh Zoo - good - Rosslyn Church (Da Vinci code) - ****e - Ghost Tours - ****e - The Scotch Whisky Experience - ****e - The National Museum - dont know - Edinburgh Castle - good - Horror Tours - ****e - National Gallery - ****e - Camera Obscura - dont know Plus tonnes of other things like St. Gile's cathedral, Greyfriars Kirk, a trip up the Scott Monument etc. - all ****e no wonder ST grew up to be a boring bastard if that's what he though was fun when he was young
the man asked for things to with his kids and you said the whisky experience? I wouldnt even want to see that now never mind as a wee kid.
How old are the kids? The edinburgh dungeon would be good but might be a bit scary for younger ones. Mary kings close isn't bad. Good for scaring stupid tourists. If you are up for more than a day, consider taking a day trip out of edinburgh. Near by are the falkirk wheel or glasgow which is a considerably nicer place without all the shortbread tin ****e.
It's not like a pub tour Anyway, to the OP, there are lots of other things to do in Edinburgh. Go online and have a look.
I think the best thing for the kids in Edinburgh would be a visit to one of Lothian Road's world-renowned rub-n-tug joints.
