Edinburgh to Newport on loan??

Another great result last night maintaining the excellent form stretching back almost to October. Just four league defeats since 1 November and two of those were to high flying Bristol and Chesterfield. Factor in the cup run and recent history looks even better.

Now comes the dilemma. What to do with Edinburgh? Shaking hands with people on Monday and a coach trip to Peterborough means he wont have had time to do any damage yet but he will soon start thinking that all this form is down to him.

The solution is obvious. Poor old Newport picked up their first point in fifteen with a late equaliser against low flying Tranmere. They are in trouble as often happens after the euphoria of a non league team reaching league 2 evaporates. They must think Edinburgh is of some use if they demanded compensation and they might even want him back. So, loan Edinburgh back to Newport. He will gain some experience of managing in the Football League and can prove he knows how to manage when life is tough and if he still looks better than what Gills have got come next Summer he can take over with a clean start and even bring his mate Jimmy Dack to show the gang of four how to do it.
