He is on a can't lose situation he thinks. Inviting the names as well as NC is asking for a day of frostiness in his boardroom. I can just see him fawning all over MLT and Big Mac as he tries to score a point at NC's expence. The man is a total w**ker in my book. Though he will say that he is trying to bring all Saints factions together. I hold no grudges he says. Yeah right!!!!
The man's no idiot.........for what ever reason he is doing this.......it is about humiliation in the end. If my memory serves me right there was an exchange of views when Mitchel last visited St Mary's. Something about not being admitted to the board room and a bar bill not being settled. Let me ask you this....Why would any chairman invite you to the board room publicly? Normally this is done quietly and in a dignified way. Then to publicly announce other invited guests. What is this all about? Simple, it is a an attempt at humiliation. This chairman seems to want to mix it with the fans, he is trying to use Saints for publicity to try and get more people in to the game. oh dear do we really need these types of chairman in the game?
The man has no class, why I bet he’s even invited his brothers Phil and Grant along. It will be interesting to know if Matt & Lawrie are prepared to be used as pawns in his silly little game. IMO he should have kept quiet and used the surprise factor, but because of his ego he has forewarned Cortese aka the silent assassin
Woodie ... Think it s a bit of both ... Definatly building the game up to being a Cup Final - when we all know this will be the last match at Dean Court for Southampton therefore maxmise on it as best as he can Most definatly winding up Cortese, but NC will have to last laugh as always!
Is it a cover up for the fact he couldn't keep Eddie Howe.? Is he trying to divert attention away for his egotistical statements regarding Eddie Howe and him staying and see it through? Or is he trying to cover up the fact that he wouldn't let Howe talk to Saints when they asked. I hear that Howe was quite miffed about that. I think that is why in the end the break up was not so easy and Mitchel blames the Saints chairman for starting the eventual departure. Only he knows........
There is a certain few ex Saints I’d love Eddie Mitchell to invite along, to ensure he’s not smiling when that bar bill is unpaid.
The more I think about it the more I think the man has made a damned big error of judgement. He says he bears no ill feeling and holds no grudges. What will he be saying when our team which has been fully charged takes the three points from them and gives them a right royal pasting. Added to that little prospect is the thought of MLT and Big mac telling the bloke to leg it. Though I can see MLT working that day at Sky.
Don't you think it funny that he has invited as far as we know just the Saints that have had a difference of opinion with our chairman. To be honest I am not sure Lawrie will want to be involved in such antics and at a guess I cannot see MLT wanting to be involved either. Yes that is another good point will Matt get the day off Sky to attend? Nah I cannot see it happening. When Mitchel realises that they can't attend through other commitments on a Saturday perhaps he will ask for the game to be played Mid week.
He did have one good idea for him and his club. Complaining about the tv shortage at Dean Court. Would have been good for the Saints fans unable to get a ticket.
Or... He will make another fantastic daily echo breaking news article saying he is now denying any invites of any kind!

It has to be a publicity stunt. I really am having trouble working him out. I really cannot see the others tagging along for the ride either. MLT is working and Lawrie not sure he will want anything to do with it. If NC goes and I will be surprised if he does, he will insist he pays for the drinks as he goes along. Also he will insist on buying a ticket as is his principal.
Even the Bournemouth faithful can't work him out so what chance have we got. I do wonder at times whether his bluster is just for the media's advantage.

They don't have a lot of money but do seem able to pick up some players cheap and sell them on for a profit. Cherries fans still question his moves regularly unless he is having a go/laugh at our expence. Then they are full of it. I feel that another two nil win for us at Dean Court will help to shut him up.
If L Mac & MLT fell for this little stunt, then they would be no better than him. I am totally fed up with this sniping & bitching about Cortese. In my opinion we couldn't wish for a better committed chairman. I've met both Lawrie & Matt on numerous occasions & there love of SFC cannot be questioned & both deserve legendary status, but please do not fall for this pathetic stunt
