No this isnt a cheesy country and western lyrics thread.
Assuming all on here are adults ( I live in hope ) what is your favourite food that takes you back to the happy times in your childhood when you didn't have a care in the world?
Although I have never eaten it since then when I think of a square mince pie sandwiches between half a crusty loaf I am transported to the 3rd year of the monkey house.
In reality though it wasnt till I moved away and my food tastes became more cosmopolitan that I discovered ciabatta bread. The first time I tasted I was cast back to out terraced 2 up 2 down in fulwell. My nana used to spend one day a week doing a marathon bake. Bread, mince pies and apple pies. Most would all be eaten by the time it got dark. Her bread though tasted just the same as the ciabatta I was getting fleeced for in flashy little Italian bistros. Spooky huh.
Drink wise, if I am down I want the worlds ills to go away it is whiskey ( cheap blend ) and coke with plenty of ice.
    Any others out there

For me it has to be my grans big yorkshire puddings that would come out just before the sunday dinner. None of yer Aunty Bessie pre made crap. These were the real deal covered in onion gravy. Took me back to a much simpler time.
Drink wise though I can’t really comment. Even though I would drink myself daft in the army, there wasn’t one particular one that I would say I favoured over another. There was once in Salisbury when I was about 21 where tequila was part of a memorable night. In fact now that I’ve mentioned it another bottle will be bought in duty free on the way back from Blighty next year. But these days anyway I’m not a big drinker. It only takes a couple of beers to give me a headache.

Home made chip butties, with the chips cooked in a chip pan. Proper fellas, not these plastic oven chips you get these days.

My Grandad made the best fritters in the world. I don't know how he did it but they were lush.
