My local team hosted a pompey XI tonight, great game but was mainly made up of youth players etc......they gave a good account and Cookie was present casting his eye over some of them.......

Have to say, I was really impressed by the fact I sided up to him just after half time and had a great chat with him, he was very welcoming to be talking to a pompey fan......although I did eventually let on that me and the kids only lived 2 mins round the corner in the next village, he found this most musing......then stopped and said " it never ceases to amaze me where i bump into Pompey lads.......you lot are every where and thats what lured me to the club"......he also went onto say how pleased he was with the players and there attitude to training. I managed to ask him what he thought of the club when he first arrived......his answer was simply " it needed sorting"

If the lads give half the effort these boys did tonight.....we could be in for an interesting ride this season :1980_boogie_down:

    Interesting to read bp <ok>

PC seems to be a down to earth character - just what the club needed.

Have to say mate.....I have had conversations with a few of our recent managers, they have all spoken about the passion of the fans, and how great this club was.....bla bla bla.....but with cookie I got a proper conversation, really down to earth and more than happy to chew the fat about footie.....granted, he was not really on duty 100%, the youth coach took the reigns, but every now and then he would break from our conversation to yell out advice to the players......then come straight back to the side lines and carry on talking.......it was almost surreal!
