Moving anywhere is a bad idea. Hopefully the council will see sense and sell the KC.

I agree. The KC's in a prime spot and it makes sense to me to sell to the Allams. It's good to see some new money going into the Rovers' coffers. Craven Park badly needs updating. The number of Black and ****e shirts that can be seen in East Hull would suggest maybe a ground share for the rugby teams would be a better idea? :D

Personally would prefer to stay at the KC, but it is an option.

What about the city supporters to the North and East of the city?

From the West, feel sure driving over to the east would be quicker than getting into and parking in Walton Street, and as for getting out of Walton Street.......

It's completely impractical and would never be considered.

I've no idea what percentage of City fans live in East Hull, but when you add together the fans that live in West Hull, the West Hull Villages, Beverley, Goole, Hornsea, Brid etc, those south of the river and all the away fans, I think you'll find that the vast majority would have to get through Hull city centre. The time it takes to get out of Walton Street would seem a breeze compared to getting 20,000 people through the city centre.

Travelling in through the east of the city this would work better for me, but i agree moving to east Hull would be impractical. I don't think any of the roads would cope with excess of 20,000 people using them on a Saturday afternoon and there's a serious lack of car parking facilities to cater for such numbers (other than in the city centre of course) Everyone knows what a joke Castle street is and add together shopping traffic (especially around christmas) then it'll be hell for away fans and city fans alike to get to games. At least having the ground in the west of the city stops the majority of fans travelling down the A63 in the city centre and away fans can get to the motorway network quicker. The location of the KC itself is fine, and with improvements on Walton street things would improve. Hopefully if sold to the Allams then car parking would improve and we'd see much needed development of the stadium and surrounding area, the council just need to stop being so stubborn and for the benefit of the club and the local community sell the KC to the Allams

Hornsea's East and Beverley's north, both would be quicker into east Hull. Traffic from the North or west from out of Hull wouldn't necessarily have to go through the centre as it can be quicker to go round or along the by-pass. So given the numbers already crossing the City from the North, East and even West, it's not going to be anything like 20,000 going the other way is it?

What roads would be used to get all this traffic into East Hull?

There's one main road into Hull, it's hard to get down it past the town centre as it is, it's already permanently backed up from Smith & Nephews down to Prinny Quay, it's particularly bad on a Saturday, trying to get thousands of extra people down there is completely impractical. Assuming were aiming for Premier League football in a 35,000 seater stadium, there could easily be 5,000 away fans alone and that's completely ignoring all the problems for our own lot.

All of which is completely academic, as we won't be moving anywhere.

Kingswood wouldn't be a bad shout but the transport links obviously aren't there, but to be honest I really hope they don't actually move it.

I believe the original plan for the KC had it on Kingswood.

As for City moving to East Hull. Christ no, away supporters get a bad enough impression of Hull as it is without subjecting them to Preston Road. The ideal move for Rovers would be in a 10,000 capacity stadium in East Park IMO. City need to stay where they are though, there aren't many teams who have brand new grounds in the city centre.

I was more disputing the 20,000 people crossing the City, as a decent percentage won't be as they're already on the other side or have no need to touch the City centre.
As for one road in, there are at least three, one from the north one from the East and one from the West with several other choices depending where you want to be in the City. Few people heading from Hornsea, Beverley or even north Hull to the motorway would use Castle Street now, so it wouldn't be much different going the opposite way. It could even take some of the football traffic OFF the A63 that currently use it.

It's also seen as a viable option to use the northern by-pass to get to the east when traffic's bad. I've seen sums that show it can be quicker and cheaper.

The problem would be once you got near to the ground, where ever it was in the East but as you say, it's not happening for us. They couldn't accommodate us AND both rugby teams.

The 20k was just a round number I picked to illustrate the point, as I say, I've no real idea how many fans come from each area.

But if we're working on 35,000 fans at capacity in the Premier League and we add together the away fans, West Hull fans and the fans from the West Hull villages, then I don't think an assumption of roughly half of the 35,000 will be too far wide of the mark and the majority of them would be coming in via Castle Street(or more accurately, not managing to come in via Castle Street).

Over 10% of East Yorkshire residents live in the West Hull villages(that's forgetting those who actually live in West Hull), they make up a disproportionate amount of City fans too(mainly due to being a bit more affluent) and I think you possibly underestimate the traffic that is generated(as we don't do public transport.:emoticon-0105-wink:)

I think you overestimate how many of the west hull villagers would bother with the A63. You only have to look at the numbers on the walkway and heading towards chants now to see that a very large percentage head other ways now and percentage wise, more would if we were in the east. (I have seen some of the traffic surveys, so it's not that much random guess work)

All academic for us football fans, best left for the RL lot to look at as part of their impending merger.
