There is the makings of a very good league one side emerging having watched pre season and yesterday. Midfield is very strong and a much better blend than any we have put out in our previous unsuccessful league one campaigns. Wide players as good as anything in the league imo. Stewart looks an upgrade on wyke but we need cover there. Winchester looks decent at rb, no problem with him being cover for that position. It’s so obvious but 2 solid attacking full backs will take it to another level and will probably be the difference between promotion or scrapping it out for a play off place.
Cannot disagree with any of that. We look very mobile and dynamic across the pitch. I just hope with signings the likes of Dan Neil arnt pushed out and still get opportunities but I reckon he has done enough to more than prove he can contribute this season
Agree with that but also need another CB and for me, it a GK came up I would get it done. Burge isn't good enough. Yday he had 2 things to do and spilled both. On another day they fall to opposite players.
well said mate, Agree totally, the more i read your posts the more i agree with your findings, very glad you joined us.
while a cracking signing will propel us quicker to promotion, this season has proved put faith in our academy and they wont let you down, would hate for Neil to be a glorified sub when he has so much to offer, would like to see more of Hawkes as well recon there is a cracking player there
No worries. Will disagree from time to time but that's part and parcel. As long as there is some decorum it's all good. Feel much better since leaving RTG and not looking at it once. Genuinely , it's been a big, positive change.
I think it's in midfield where we'll see the biggest improvements this season. We now have energy and creativity. If we get the 2 full backs and another cb I think we'll take some stopping. Another striker and a wide forward will give us the squad depth we need
see what your saying Jarca however i am tossed between being greedy and wanting success now or letting the young guys come through, im sure LJ will get the mix right
I think he will mate. We've got to open up the pathway for the youngsters that are good enough. With KLD I think it's the long term picture he is looking at.
agreed, long term goal(pun intended) is top flight football, but we need to keep the pot boiling with constant improvement, hopefully in the form of a promotion or two. Delighted with our start mind, and the vibe around yesterday, now a couple of decent signings this week would be fantastic. KTF
Agree. Both the saves he made should have been regulation but he spilled them and it could have been costly Assuming Wright goes, we need at least 1 CB and maybe 3 full backs? Winchester did OK, but there were times when he looked like a midfielder playing at right back. He was ball watching for their goal when an experienced right back may well have got across to cover the shot. Dived in a couple of times needlessly too
Any ideas if the club are looking to improve on the goal keeper as well, or content to give Patty a chance to improve and take over
i think Preece will be asessing this situation urgently, and maybe being asked to decide what we do next. I wouldn't be surprised to see another keeper in soon, even maybe an older head to bring some experience.
Too right mate nearly costly mistakes yesterday, if we want promotion cant afford lapses like that, still remember that relief goalie that was brought in against us he was man of the match for them, we need someone of that calibre
Evens for me is a massive coup, think he'll be are singing of the summer if he keeps fit, so relaxed on the ball, put a great tackle in on jones, hit that volley sweat aswell on the edge of the box
Just rewatched the highlights and even happier second time round, that was a great performance from a recently cobbled team of 5 games
