Simple questions 1. Do we want players in asap so they have time to gel or do we play the waiting game in the hope their prices come down and we snag a bargain? With SB I wanted them in asap so they could gel, with MON I think we can wait a bit longer for some of them. Just think MON will get them playing together a lot quicker than SB did. Obviously it would be nice to be all sorted by the start of the season with Messi and Ronaldo in place but, in all my years supporting the lads it has never been like that. 2. Has the transfer window ran it's course? For me yes it has players are still moving on willy nilly at the end of the season so there is no point in it anymore. The reasoning behind it were sound but, not anymore time to move on.
The problem with waiting so that you end up maybe getting a bargain. is in my view a sticky slope to be on. Yes we would all love to pay less, the problem being that while your waiting for the price to come down someone steals your thunder while you procrastinate. Strike while the irons hot.
I am very, very comfortable to wait to get the players Martin wants and not the ones the newspapers, tweeters and other social media ****-wits seem to want us to get. We haven't missed out on ONE single target this summer as we don't know what players the manager actually wants. Or do we? I'd be happy to listen to the man himself OR Ellis Short OR one of the direct backroom staff tell me. Bruce got players in quickly but were they good enough and they did cost him his job. I'll wait for our man to unveil his summer signings in his own time and when they come, then I' will equally happily wait to see how they perform before I make my comments.
Bruce seemed to get them in too quickly as he didn't seem to know what to do with them when he got them.
