    Gunners Transfer news

Pedro has become the latest Barcelona player to suggest that Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas should sign for Barcelona, claiming Barca's players are "looking forward to see if he joins the club".

Arsenal will have to pay around £18m if they want to bolster their defence by signing Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka.

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is expected to get his wish of being left out of the party that departs for a training camp in Germany as he looks to force a move to Barcelona.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is furious after being fined two weeks wages for outspoken comments confirming his desire to leave Southampton.

If Cesc really wants to leave, then we shouldn't keep him. But we should be the ones dictating the transfer not Barca. If they can't stump up the cash, which imo should be £40m+ then we should dictate what player + cash deal is done. Mascherano and Pique would be worth around £40m combined, let's see just how badly Barca want Cesc.

Jagielka is not worth £18m, but £10m is a bit low. I reckon somewhere around £13m-£15m should swing it. I hope we go back with another offer. He would really improve our defence.

    Ah right...makes more sense.

Jagielka is not what we need anyway; although he's good, he's too similar to Koscielny and Vermaelen. What we need is a 28 year old Sol Campbell; height and power. Djourou has something, depends if he can recover from his injury. He was terrible when he came back.

I think Mertesacker would be good, would be a positive step towards solving our set piece problem.

this is exactly right. Jags is a quality player, i've followed him for YEARS since he was at Shef Utd and wanted Arsenal to sign him from them then. he's a very good CB but he's not tall, and he's not particularly dominant for headers, set pieces etc.

arsenal need height and power right now. they've got a great technical team, but they lack the power of vieira, campbell, adams...players of that ilk.

Why does Pedro want Cesc to come so badly? I'd have thought he'd be the first to be dropped to accomodate the new Pep dream diamond formation. Careful what you wish for you diving tard!
